Electric Tongue Jack - Cover or Not?
So, maybe the title says it all. Do you cover your electric jack head? If so, with what?
Just slapped my forhead (a DOH! moment) when I remembered throwing out a worn out folding chair that had a perfectly good bag that with a little stichery would have been perfect for that. :lightning:

Mine came with a cover and I leave it on most of the time.

My last one came with a bag I use it when we are out with trailer but when at home i just use a small bucket to cover the head of jack. the first one I didnt cover and water got in and shorted out switch which I replaced then shorted out motor so replaced jack now I cover it all the time.

I keep mine covered while in storage.
I use a cover made from a camping bag chair. I cut the top off if it's too long.
Replace when the sun destroys them. I never use the chair bags to store the chairs anyway.

I also keep mine covered. A bit redneck I suppose, I just use a bucket turned upside down.

Keep mine covered all the time now, had problems with moisture getting into the housing a few years back..... not any more.

A 5 gallon orange home depot bucket. It doubles as a stool to open my bunks. It's also great as a stool for my pug's!

What happens when you are travelling in the rain?

I took an old plastic garbage can and put 2 hooks and a tools holder clip in it. I cover tha jack with it and put my chains on the hooks and my plug into the clip. Now every thing is out of the weather. I will try to take a few photo's tomorrow.

I would think the lawn chair bag would work, but you might want to waterproof it as all of mine are quite porous

I purchased a vinyl cover from the company that made my jack. It is on except when I am raising or lowering the tongue of the trailer.

I have a manual crank for the UltraFab and I leave the cover on when using it. I can feel the switch through the cover and have not had it off in over 3 years. Might have wasps inside but I don't know and don't want to find out.

water proof cover-up
An old golf bag cover is almost tailor made for this cover up. Combine it with a clear plastic zippererd bag that sheets or something comes in under the golf bag and you are completely waterproof.

Gee I have been using a power jack for over 8 years and NEVER put anything over it... the jack gets switched over when I trade trailers...
