Electrical issue 🤔

Hi everyone
We are the proud owners of a 2012 Jayco Jay Flight 22 fb.
We’ve owned the unit for since 2014 and absolutely love it !!!!
Last year however we started smelling a burning plastics smell, more like electrical wiring overheating.
We have now replaced the charging unit next to the fuse box.
However the charging unit now sounds like it’s screaming at us and is impossible to sleep at night !!!!
This only happens when we’re hooked up to shore power and not when we’re running off our batteries!!!!
Any ideas ?????
The reason we changed the charger is cause the rv repair place we took it to told us it was on its way out !!!!!!
Would greatly appreciate any feed back.
Cheers from the Pacific Northwest 😬

The converter has a cooling fan. Sounds like it is rubbing on something.

I would take it back and have them replace it. I have seen too many new electric components (not just rv) be defective right out of the box.

You can check it fairly easily. Look where it is located and see if there is anything maybe around it that could be vibrating?

You have to be on shore power for the charging portion with the fan to run that's probably why you don't notice it when not plugged up.

Check and be sure your batteries are good and charging. Bad batteries could cause the charging unit in the converter to overwork and run hot.

Was the converter the original burning smell you mentioned?

Hi Cabinet maker
Tnx for the response, yes the burning smell seemed to be coming from the converter. Pulled everything apart but could figure it out !!! I’ll check the batteries. Also the cooling fan is not running. I would guess it might be a defective part. Seems like the new charging unit is overheating and that might be causing that weird noise it’s emitting!!!!!!!!
