We are in our third week of an experiment with a product called Smelleze by NoOdor.com. We purchased four formaldehyde pouches and distributed them in our new 2016 23RBM. We left our camper closed up during the week in the Alabama heat and opened it the last three Saturdays to check the odor and recharge the pouches. As of yesterday, the VOC odors are virtually undetectable.
The company claims that their product does not mask odors, but rather, it actually absorbs the VOC vapors and eliminates them. Each week you take them out to recharge them in the sun. I suppose they off-gas while absorbing the sun's rays. In any case, neither DW nor I can detect any more VOCS with our schnozes. We both have respiratory and headache issues with the intense VOC vapors in new trailers and some cars. We are going to do another week, making it a month of use. However, it appears to us that the little pouches are doing what the company claims they do. We will likely keep them in our trailer when it is in storage. We opened all of the cupboards, closets, and drawers during this experiment to allow greater circulation of air for the off-gassing.
Of course, fresh air is helpful for mitigating the impact of VOC vapors, but the vapors typically linger for a long time, and this product really seems to expedite the air quality "cleansing" process. We have found that fresh air venting, while effective over time, is a very slow process, and it is not always possible to have fresh air flow, especially in storage. So we took a shot at this product, and we say it is working.
