Emptying tanks without sewer hook-up
We just got back from Algonquin park. The campsites are 30 amp electric with no sewer or water. We didn't want to use the campground facilities due to covid and their showers were closed for the foreseeable future. I wanted to come up with a solution that made grey and black transfer almost effortless. This was my first test of the Flowjet maceration pump along with two 21 gallon Rhino tanks sitting in the tow vehicle. I constructed platforms for under the tanks to keep them level for filling. We had to drive about 3 miles to the sanitation dump station. When there, it was just a matter of connecting the RV dump hose from the tank to the sewer, and tip the tank up. The black rubber glued to the platforms was to prevent the tanks from sliding around when empty.
The whole set up worked very well. The only thing I might change is the length of wire for the Flojet trigger so I can be watching the fill level at the tank.
A word of warning. Make sure the hose is in the right place when you hit the trigger.

Nice job with that set up. Sounds like it worked out perfectly. I've tent camped up there back in the '70s on a motorcycle trip. Went in the east gate, and out the west, and did all the attractions along the way. It was impressive.

I do the same with my 42 gal barker. I don,t have to tip to dump. The barker has a gate valve down low.

I don’t understand what you are saying. You say you do not want to use the facilities but then you talk about dumping your tanks into them. Why not pull your rig up and dump like normal? Being older COVID is an issue and with the death rate being so high in Canada I understand not wanting to use any public facilities but in the end that is what you did. Safe travels
Enjoy the journey

I've been doing that for years, but with a TT I dont need the platforms. I also use a 60 gallon FW bladder to bring FW to the camper..
** Trapper 2020 much easier than having to pack up the RV and move every time you need to dump tanks...**

The park he was at had no dump station. Dump was 3 mile drive. If it was in the campground it was a hell of a big campground.

My Flojet died after 2 years of slight use. Maybe a dozen times. I now use a 120V garbage disposal with a kit I found on ebay to use instead. Cheaper and hopefully more reliable. Good luck with yours !

Thanks for all the replies. The topic was "Emptying tanks without sewer hook-up". For those that find this set up useful, great. The showers and laundry were closed. We were able to do laundry, shower, dishes and the toilet in house for 3 days before dumping. We've been going to this park for 12 years now and plan to return next year.

Wonderful place for canoe tripping. Haven't taken our trailer there but have done some four dozen week long canoe trips.
That you experienced the entire population of Toronto is not surprising given it was Thanksgiving weekend and leaf peeping season. It is way different in June.

Great setup. Why 2 21 gal, is it just for weight management vs 1 big one? Also do you use the same setup for both gray and black?

Thanks mtb4life. The 21 gallon don't take much effort to tilt to empty and the fit on either side of the hitch was good. Bed cover closes over the tanks, so I just leave them there between dumps. Prices change a lot on Amazon. When I ordered, 2 21's were less expensive than 1 36, giving me another 6 gallons capacity for less $$. With a 36, I would of had to put it rear of the hitch and leave the tailgate down to transport to the dump station. Wife wanted me to use the one mainly for black and the other for gray, so I empty the black into the same one and finish filling it with gray. Then use the other for gray only. I don't think it matters much. When I'm done camping, I do a good wash down inside and out with Dawn dish soap. They're clean and ready for the next trip.

Truck Stops
I don't know about Canada, but here in the States most Truck stops have dump Stations and let RV's dump at them, some charge a fee but I have noticed that when I ask about it when Filling up with fuel in the RV, They wave the fee.

Hi DennisH. Our truck stops have dump stations if there are RV lanes, such as FlyingJ and some other highway service centers. I'm using this setup because we're camping for 2 to 3 weeks at one park and need to dump every 3 days. That takes care of all waste water including showering and cloths washing machine.

Why don't you just use the macerator (or a hose) at the dump station? Why the bags in between??
