Eternabond Alternative

I have a USB cable from a Wifi Campro antennae that I want to secure to the rubber roof as it goes to my reefer vent. Is there an alternative to eternabond that I can use? I don't want to screw it down with clips and I don't want to permanently seal it down with eternabond.

I saw a heavy duty Gorilla tape at the big box store in white and was thinking of using that.

Won't last exposed to the sun.

Gorilla white is fantastic! We wouldn't hesitate to use it for a job like that.

Actually it does have UV inhibitors.

I would use eternabond and if you ever need to remove it, just slice the section over the cable. It won't come up.

But the glue still let's loose from the heat overtime.

Maybe over a long amount of time but we have had some on the roof for over a year, and we know a thing or two about the heat and sun.

Thanks everyone. I’m sure the Gorilla tape will eventually need to be replaced, but it’s really cheap compared to eternabond and I don’t mind going up every once and a while to touch up.

Was even thInking if placing a bead of Dicor along the edges of the tape for added water proofing

Dicor is probably not necessary as it is also waterproof. We have even used it to fix a leaking water pipe.
Occasional replacement is a really good idea.

When I saw the subject line I thought someone was asking about the "other brand". My dealer stocks the eternabond alternative, but have been wondering why its never mentioned. I didn't bother remembering the name, since I know the reputation of eternabond, but....

I had a 6 inch tear in my slide bottom from a staple in the carpet and used about a ft of black Gorilla tape over it. It's not in the sun but has held for a year or so.

I've removed tons of eternabond over the years. Take a heat gun / paint stripper and warm it up and pull and it will come right off. Then a dry rag rubbing over the area will remove most of the adhesive that remained, then follow up with Acetone or Mineral Spirits to finish removing the small amount of adhesive left. You do that with a damp rag.

I have used FLEX SEAL to repair a small tear in my slide out roof. Seems to be working well.

I would as well, but I used all my Flex Seal to tape my boat back together after I saw'd it in half!

I should have used barge tape on the boat and flex seal on the roof!!

We all agree that eternabond is a great product, the cost is less than $1 a foot, available in 20' rolls.. why not use the best and not worry about IF it will last or not ? Gorilla tape is good, but eternabond has a proven record on RV roofs.. I'd pop for the $20 to buy a roll and not worry about it. JMHO

I wouldn't mind splurging on the eternabond, but I don't want to deal with the removal process in the future. Hence why I'm looking for an alternative.

I'm going to try the Gorilla tape and will post back here in 3, 6, 9, and 1 year with the results. We live in Texas so the summer sun is relentless! Lets see how it holds up.

Oscar, I echo the Eternabond crowd. It’s tough, can be removed and is intended for TT roof applications. I have used gorilla glue (not tape) and it’s good.

Here is the spec sheet on gorilla tape It is not recommended for EPDM roofing

Depending on how much and how far you could use some puddles of Dicor to glue it down and several places.

You could also use some narrow 3m trim tape and stick it to the cable then stick to the roof to hold it down. Again, heat gun to remove it.
