Extended warrany

Just boughten x17z. The dealer offered a7 yr warrant for over $1,000 (+ other packages) Is it really worth getting the extra warranty when jayco provides a 2 yr warranty?

Welcome to the JOF Sylvia. I moved your post from "Site Problems.." over to the "General Jayco Chat" forum. Also, here is a thread that shares some opinions on extended warranties. Congrats on the new x17z

I think "the devil is in the details" on something like this, taking a really close look at what is and isn't covered, in addition to considering what your estimate is of annual usage. The opinions I've read on extended warranties in general have ranged from "worthless" to having save an individual huge money.

Make sure the items you want covered are specifically mentioned as covered. If it's vague or not mentioned at all, you can bet it's not covered. That might help you decide as to the worth.

Extended warranty's...they don't make money by approving claims... One of my camping buddies worked for one of these companies for a while he got let go for approving too many claims.. (that were justified)

Extended warranties are offered with the expectation that they will make $$. Same with a life insurance policy. If they paid out more than they took in they'd go out of business (or change the rules). I've never bought an extended warranty on a car and didn't on the Jayco and I'm pleased to say that I've never been sorry. But that being said, if you have one and have an expensive (covered) failure, then you made a good choice (or got lucky).

Having had 2 TT's in the last 10 years, when I purchased my new 32TSBH, I went with the extended warranty. I certainly wish I had it on the first one! It would have saved opening the ole wallet more than once. Peace of mind is what it gives me.
