Extension cord question

Hi!

When using an extension cord, is it necessary to waterproof the connection with the TT's cord? We have a storm bearing down on Camp Driveway here, and I went ahead and wrapped it with a shopping bag and duct taped it down, but was wondering if that was necessary. Certainly keep it up, so that it doesn't end up in a puddle for sure.

We used a plastic container like the kind from Budig deli sandwich meat. I cut a notch on each end for the cord. The plugs go in the container and snap on the plastic lid. Cheap, lightweight, and it keeps the connection dry.

I just wrap a piece of duck tape around the connection and lay it on a rock or something to keep it out of the water. Have never had a problem for 10 years.

Hmm. Never worried about it. Just made sure the connection wasn't sitting in a puddle and ignored it!

Like McMonk, I never worried about it though I've been known to wrap electrical tape around the connection. I do like the tip 'Wiscampsin' mentioned though. I'll have to tell the wife to pick up some of that kind of deli meat next time she's at the store even if it's high in sodium. Never hurts to have that extra bit of safety in case there's a deluge one night.

As long as it isnt submerged in water, its fine.
