Exterior caulk and seal inspection

Just a thought. When you do an inspection of your RV for all the caulk and seals, you might not know to look inside your awning arm that has the motor on it. After rolling the awning out, there is a plastic piece inside the base arm that is bolted to the RV. Remove it to see the sealed conductors going through a 3/4” to 1” hole. Water likes to go down inside there and follow the wires inside.
Happy Camping!

Mine just has a hole the wires go through, and a dab of dicor. I stopped trying to caulk the hole. Everytime I move the awning the wires flex, and the caulking fails. From what I determined it is really hard for water to get into this spot. Your design may differ from mine.

It is a spot to keep an eye on.

On my rig, that cord comes out of a hole at the bottom of the awning support and runs up in a channel to the top arm then over to the motor.
They did a great job of sealing mine as I can see where it enters the rig from the ground and it has never needed re-caulking.

Mine is the same - I haven't seen the need to touch up yet either...

Mine was sealed with foam that deteriorated on a Thor.

Thanks for the heads-up. I've been re-sealing all of my windows and hatches this weekend. Checked my awning wires this morning, different design but the wires are very well sealed where they go inside.

In the last week we have had multiple monsoon storms with massive amounts of rain, almost 2 inches in one storm alone. No leaks in the RV.
