Exterior LED Upgrade

So I'm thinking of upgrading my exterior running lights to LED. The reason being, I don't find the incandescent bulbs overly bright and a couple of weeks ago driving in the fog, I could barely see my running lights.

So my question is, which way would you go, upgrade the entire housing to an LED fixture, or keep the housings and just replace the lamps?

If replacing just the lamps, what have you bought that lasted? I've bought some of those cheap 194 LED bulbs from China and they only last a couple of months. The last thing I want is a burnt out LED as that would be less effective than a dim incandescent lamp.

I have bought jdm led bulbs in the past. Had them on previous trailers rear stop and running light. Now on the back of my truck. They seem to last. Bought on ebay from a US seller but made in japan.
I bought paddle style 194 replacement LED bulbs for interior lights. Those you need to be careful as some of the china ones would overheat and burn.
Ones I had ran cool as in much cooler than the incandescent bulbs. Also beware the led bulbs are one way work one way not on the spade type.

I looked and Amazon now sells some jdm bulbs. Are these the same brand?
Which sizes did you buy for running and tail lights. My Jayco now is covered in snow and 9 degree wind temp so not looking today!

Anyone else use jdm? amazon has lots of good reviews on this brand.

My interior lights came LED from the factory, so for me it would just be replacing the exterior lamps.

Well depends on year of trailer
Some had round base some had spade base. Our 2016 jayflight had spade. Single bulb ran running and stop turn signal.
Same spade bulb fits our 2016 F250 rear tails. Its snowing here so not pulling the lens for ya. Sorry

On ebay this is similar:

JDM is a brand? Thought it meant "Japanese Domestic Market" in automotive terms. Also check out Diode Dynamics for top quality made in USA bulbs for all applications.

Jdm astar is the seller
I realise what the jdm referred too. Follow the link to the seller
They sell all kinds of these similar to what I purchased a few years ago from that particular seller. No affiliation to them just sharing my experience is all.
YMMV

Yes, replace the entire housing. The incandescent housing will not direct the LED light the same way it does an incandescent bulb. How many times have you been blinded by some idiot that put LED bulbs in their car and it scatters light everywhere?

Buy quality LED Lights, install and enjoy. It’s more work but worth it.
