External water filter - what brand works best for you ?

Am considering adding an external in-line water filter to our 5er, in addition to the under sink unit. I see a wide variety of manufacturer claims and prices. What filter do you use, and why did you choose it over the others ? Do you just set it on the ground, or use a stand ? Appreciate all comments and suggestions.

I just use the blue screw on from Walmart. I think it works fine for us but we have pretty good city water. On some of the farms where i keep my tt during hunting season it is all well water and it smells and has a nasty taste even with a filter.
I looked at some of the fancy filters like you would have in a house, but it is just not feasible being we only use the water for showers and washing dishes.

Cant tell you how it works yet - but we upgraded to the Camco 40631 Cartridge Filter this season. I suspended the filter near the inlet to keep the mud splash off of it when it rains. We cant carry water due to weight and we are picky about water when it comes to bathing and washing dishes. We have used the Camco 100 micron blue bullet in the past....the Camco 40361 Catridge is a 5 micron filter.

I just received a Camco RV and Marine filter I ordered from Amazon. 150 Micron. I don't see a part number on it. It was $13. We don't drink the water. Bath and wash dishes is all.

We use one of the whole house water filters systems from Lowe's that looks similar to the Camco pictured above. I added brass water hose fittings to make connecting easy. Since we only get to go out once a month from spring through summer I usually get a new filter for each trip.

As I stated in a previous post, I use a two stage 10" filter from the site mentioned earlier also. The two filters are: Primary particulate filter is a 1 micron, the Secondary filter is a charcoal filter and also is 1 micron.

I do drink the water and feel that this filter combination protects me better than I was in my s&b. I have my filter in the basement just prior to the fresh water input on my 5'er. At my home base I change the particulate filter about every six months. At the state park in Florida where I volunteer in the summers I have to replace it every 2-3 weeks. There is obviously a major difference in particulates between the two water systems.

My entire system, including the hose from the outside faucet, is protected by a Watts 263A pressure regulator.

Blue Walmart filter for me as well.

We use the Dupont filter that attaches to the faucet, but as another mentioned, sometimes even that doesn't do the trick.
