EZ-UP Model Recommendation

Hey Gang,

Picking a EZ-Up is not for the feint of heart. Lots of options, lots of steps on the ladder up to a truly eye opening dollar amount !

Anybody have a recommendation for a model that is a good value balancing durability, reliability, price?

Thanks much.

We just ordered a 10'x15' from Northern Tool. Super price, and free shipping. It's large, but the smaller one is much more money. It's going to replace a Quest brand we've had for a few years, and still works well. We wanted a little bigger one, for over the picnic table, and our grill table. Will give us more room under the awning.

This is it. https://www.northerntool.com/shop/to...2030_200642030

Got ours at SAMS. The ones they usually have are more of a commercial grade.

How about a little bit more info... budget, size, application, use, etc. The questions sounds a little like, "what car should I buy?"

A friend of mine has a Clam. Spendy but very easy to set up and durable. Will be my next one for sure. Link to manufacturer, shop for best price. Get a white roof if you camp where it’s warm, dark if you camp where it’s cool.

A Coleman Outlet Store, if one nearby.

The new model... is not the same as the old ones that were sold at Sams club / costco 6 or more years ago. We finally retired our older model that had the side curtains that would enclose our unit as the top had too many repairs and those were coming apart now.

We purchased two of the Ambasador units... they are more like the cheaper Awnings that still have straight legs, and do not have the same mechanism that holds the peak up. They still work, and for what we use ours for... they work just fine.

Here are two pictures of the Ambassador that we bought... we bought two on Amazon for about $75 each!

One thing that these newer models allow... you can pull the fabric off of the frame in about 2 minutes (one person can do it) when there is a storm / high winds that might destroy your canopy. The prior model would take hours, it was easier to just take the entire thing down. We anchor ours down (look at the ratchet straps) and taking the cover off the top is much simpler when the extreme weather hits.

Recommend getting one that has straight legs. Those with slanted legs can not be placed very close to an awning to aid in moving between the camper and the canopy.
