Factory Tour.

I would love to do a factory tour. I’m sure this is covered somewhere, does anybody know if they are doing them again after Covid? I would love to walk down the assembly line where they’re making my 34G and see how a few things are put together. What’s behind those walls?

Tours only use to be for the tow-able plants, but that may have changed. I would call the Visitor's Center since that is where they originate and see if they've resumed. You do need to schedule it as well.

Nothing like being there but there's a lot of YT videos on how RV's are built. Each factory has their own methods but it's still a basically an assembly line. Many things (walls, roof, cabinets) are pre-fabricated and it's just placing things in place. You may or may not be impressed. After watching a few videos on YT I wanted to throw a ratchet strap over my RV and strap it down to the frame before I pulled it down the road. Seriously it's not that bad but you'll find out just how cheaply built these things are.

But they are fun!

We toured the plant while there on a SOB rally. It was orchestrated as you could not just wander around. It was guided to certain areas.

While in the area we toured 2 other brands plant also. It was very interesting.
You have to call and make reservations.

In one of my previous lives I developed products for the industry. I often had to visit the plants to give guidance on their use, or to investigate complaints.

They are dangerous places. After witnessing the construction first hand, I am amazed that I actually bought one myself.

Elkhart Indiana and many of the manufacturing plants there have just gone back to doing their "Open House" weekend where many facilities are open to the public and some include things like their R&D centers.
Sadly, you just missed it.
If you follow any of the YouTube channels on RVing most of them have video's of tours and events at this years open houses.
