If its non transferable, then I don't buy them (warranties). Its a gamble to buy one; you pay for it for piece of mind, and hope you perhaps get to use it at least once during ownership to make the money spent on it worth it. Factory warranties are excluded on this of course. Many dealers get a kick back on purchaseable or extended warranties. The warranty companies count on the fact that many folks do not keep the product the warranty is purchased for for its lifetime, and therefore don't offer it to be transferable. They make their money this way.
I'm one of those rare few that has never made an automobile insurance claim in the 40 years I've been driving. So, for 40 years, I've paid insurance, and have never had to use it.
I keep thinking that one day I'll side swipe a tree, just so I can get at least some of that money back! But that would not be fair to the tree.
