Fading Paint

our 2013 Jayco Pinnacle's brown paint is fading away on the front and rear. Approximate time on the road is 1 year; in enclosed storage about 1 1/2 years. Anyone else having this problem? If so, have you addressed it with Jayco? Thanks for your input.

Is it safe to assume it's been waxed regularly?

If it's still under warranty, they'll repaint it. At least that's what I've been reading here as others have experienced the problem. IIWM, I'd contact Jayco and see if they'll address it.

When I purchased mine in 2014 the front and rear caps had already started to fade. the unit had been on the dealears lot for over a year. Had both repainted under warranty. Even though it appears your warranty has expired I would get with your dealer and ask. This is a known problem with the dark colored end caps on Jaycos and other brands of RVs

I think I read somewhere on JOF that when they repainted, they went White with Graphics and did not us the Brown on the nose

I stayed with the brown but with the correct paint with stabilizers to prevent fading. I had heard that the company in IN that painted the caps for various manufacturers used the incorrect paint for the application. Not sure if it is true or not but hopefully will not have an issue. it has been a full year since they were repainted and no signs of fading.

Here is a link that has additional information regarding the dark brown color fading.... Our EAGLE was one of the first to go through the process... Since the warranty on the exterior was ready to expire, we opted to have the service center match the side color and have the front painted the lighter color. The dark brown color reached temperatures of over 220 degrees in the sun where the new light color maxes out at 119 degrees in the sun... MUCH cooler in the front bedroom.

Tons of info on this subject on here if you check out the search function. Common problem, not just with Jayco, but any RV with a dark cap. Jayco seems to reprint for people under warranty. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. I anticipate being there late this summer or next.

We are currently having our front cap repainted on our 2013 RLTS Eagle Premier. We also had the corner pieces on the slide-outs replaced as they were fading. Jayco has been very good about approving the work needed during the warranty period, for various issues we have had. So far very impressed.

I've seen several new Jaycos westbound on the interstate and most if not all have the lighter front caps on them now.

Not a paint issue, but our Eagle had cracks in the gelco on the front cap and Jayco warren tied it right away. They sent a new cap (took 5 or 6 weeks) and the dealer had it replaced in 2 more weeks. I'm VERY happy.

Our 2015 Jayco Eagle was made in September 2014. By then, Jayco eliminated the dark brown cap and changed to an ivory color.

The dealer told me Jayco had too many warranty claims for fading. I'm glad I have the ivory front cap.

That is interesting. I wondered if it would wind up with us having to re-paint every 2 to 3 years. If the correct paint is used, then that should eliminAte the problem. Thank you for the info.

I will certainly let all know how this is resolved. I would think Jayco wouldn't want faded RVs with their name on the front rolling down the highway! We'll see.

Our 2014 Eagle Premier is in the paint shop now. I am having the work done at a dealer I didn't buy the unit from this dealer but the service has been good. No problem getting approvals for work from Jayco.

Boy! I must be the only "Dark Cap" Eagle owner who hasn't had a fading/chalking problem! (Knock on wood!)

While I was wintering in Texas, another 2013 Eagle owner pulled in. His chalking/fading problem was really bad. Advised him about the numerous posts on The Forum about it. Last I heard, he had contacted Jayco and was going to have it repainted when he got back to his home base. Jayco does seem to step up on these, but you MUST get it reported to them during the 2 year warranty period.

We have a 2013 284BHS, I noticed the front cap was fadeing and made the call to my dealer a few weeks ago. They contacted Jayco, it is now in the shop being repainted and decaled.
My warranty ran out Aug '14, so it is nice to see Jayco standing behind their product, we have been very happy with ours. Hope to get it back next week.

Just got back our whitehawk 28 DSBH from a front fade repainted. The dealership did a fantastic job and the clear looks extra thick. I suspect it will last for a long time. Thank you jayco for standing behind your product!
