Fart fan replacement recommendations ?

My puny little bathroom ceiling fan is laughably small, gotta be a BIGGER one out there, eh ?

Please reply with your stories of installation/replacement, and the fan you chose - good and bad stories, please !

Here's my rig: https://www.jayco.com/tools/archive/...-flight/28bhs/

Installed a Fan-tastic fan.

Fairly easy installation. Just be careful when removing the old roof sealant so you don’t tear the roof material. I used a plastic putty knife and just went slowly, it will come right off.
A bunch of screws, couple of wire nuts, use Dicor self leveling sealant on the roof and it’s done.

I should have got the one with the remote control, my wife is too short to open it and turn it on. The new fan really cools down the rig quickly.

This is the one I installed:

https://www.amazon.com/Hengs-Industr...6873253&sr=8-1

I wasn't ready to break the seal on the roof to install the other types of fans, even though I know they're much better fans.

Install was relatively easy, and it certainly moves A LOT more air than the original "fart fan".

So far the only problem I've had is that the "low" speed doesn't work any more. Not a big deal for me really. My rig is about 3-1/2 years in my possession, and this was a mod I made very early on in my ownership.

There is one long and several shorter threads on here about replacing that fan with a Fanntastic remote control. A search should turn those up but I installed the Heng and then took it out later. It sounded like a C130 in reverse thrusters. I hated it.

Here is one. There are more. Maxxi was the other I could not think of.

I think it used to be that the Maxxair fan could be installed in the existing RV fan housing. The Fantastic Fan required that the entire assembly be replaced, meaning getting up on the roof to remove, replace and reseal the housing and exterior cover.

I replaced mine with a Fantastice fan, did all the rooftop work and it's worked great for 10 years. If I'd known about the much easier Maxxair fan installation, I'd have gone that route.

But , it's been 10 years and I don't know for sure if Maxxair is still a drop-in replacement.

No it is not a direct drop in. The funky Jayco put in there prevents that.

I installed the Hengs Vortex with no problems except excessive noise. Found the fan was rubbing on the screen wire. Fixed that and a lot quieter. We use it to ventilate the RV when we don't have power and for sucking out moist shower air.

I installed the Fantastic fan 5000rbt, it has a thermostat so when we are not using the rv it turns its self on to at least keep it close to the same temp as outside. It reall moves a lot of air on the high speed.

Install took about an hour, just need a tube of Dicor ready to seal the roof.

Should have purchased the 6600r, it has the remote control and auto opens the cover.

fan

Maxxair fan deluxe 7500 with remote. Absolutely love it. It has so many features I felt it was just too much for the bathroom which is right next to the bedroom. So I installed it in the bedroom vent opening. It's placement gives us so many more options to use all those features including as a ceiling fan. As others stated, the hardest part is taking your time removing old sealant.
I may regret putting it there someday if I want to add a second A/C but my 15K plus the new fan seem to be handling everything just fine.
