Farthest you've towed?

I am just curious to see some of the distances folks have towed a camper. So tell me please what is the farthest you have gone? What were you driving and what were you towing?

It's not clear the timeframe you're asking about so I'll assume day - longest single day we've gone is about 425 miles with the combination listed in my signature. We've found that the 400 range works best for us and that we're comfortable with that distance for several consecutive days.

The longest trip we've taken was just shy of 6k total miles, from Milwaukee, WI to Vegas, then Monterrey, CA, then West Yellowstone, MT and back home, 15 days total. The longest days I've towed was 15 hours and about 800 miles. This 6k mile trip was with a '95 GMC Suburban. Later we towed to West Yellowstone, MT with a Chevy Trailblazer, also included a 15 hour day in each direction. On both trips we were towing an '03 Jayco Kiwi 17a.

My wife and I towed from NJ to Moab, UT and back (2100 miles each way). Not all in one shot, mind you. We made numerous stops in Colorado to mountain bike.

On the first day, we drive the most. We stared at 2am and all the next day (trading off driving and stopping to rest). That brought us from NJ to Effingham, IL (830 miles). That is a long day.

After that, we drove to the middle of Kansas then to Colorado Springs, CO to begin our vacation. Whew.

Years ago we pulled a 30 foot TT with a 3/4 ton van from Raleigh NC to Ithaca NY only stopping for fuel. If I remember right it was slightly over 12 hours for us. We don't think like that anymore. I like to drive about 5-6 hours and we plan as such.

West Glacier MT to Minot ND, across hwy 2. Not a thing to see or do, fuel stops are every 150 miles. That days trip was about 660 miles. Got stopped a few times for road construction while waiting for pilot cars. Some areas I think we followed a pilot car for 20 miles. So you can imagine the wait. Never did over 60 mph. Only stopped for food and fuel. I think that was just over a16 hour drive. Over all that trip was about 4500 miles, in 19 days.

My longest trip was from San Diego, CA to Madisonville, TN, then down to Jacksonville Fl, with various stops along the way. TV was a 2008 Toyota Tundra and TT at the time was a 245RB Keystone Passport. Over all travel time was about a week and half.

We towed our 2011 Jayco Skylark 5500 miles in 3 weeks this past August with our 2012 Honda Pilot. We averaged 12 mpg while towing. The longest tow I've done is 450 miles in a single day.

2000 miles roundtrip, Chicago to Mt Rushmore, just this past summer. Longest drive in one day was 475 miles during the same trip on the final leg home. Towed a '04 23B with our '05 Pathfinder. That was by far our longest road trip. Everything else has been within 200 miles of home...

About four years ago we took a dream vacation around the country. We were gone 67 days and drove 11,432 miles. Started in Central California down to the Trans-continental Hwy 80 all the way east to Savannah, GA. We stayed close to the east coast through again many historic and beautiful areas. Stayed in Bar Harbor ME. and proceeded to Whitby, Ontario Canada and Niagra Falls Canada, down to a daughters in Battle Creek, MI, up to meet and camp with friends in northern Minnesota and to my wife's childhood home in Iowa. From there because of previous travels around the northern US routes we hit Inter state 80 and home. This country, its people, it's history, it's scenery and beauty are awesome. No mishaps or mechanical trouble. What an adventure.
