Finally got our trailer back!

Last week I picked up our 28u from the RV repair facility. I dropped off the trailer for warranty work on Oct the 4th. I had gone in two week prior so they could order a new awning arm for it. I had no idea it would take this long to replace the awning arm, realign the slide out and replace the tape that had bubbled again on top of the slide out. The problem was the slide out. According to the paperwork they replaced nine motors , the harness and the controller. They billed Jayco for over forty hours of work! I'm just happy to have it back and working again before my warranty runs out. I hope Jayco extends my warranty. I've had it in the shop for more than 6 months since I bought it. Have any of you had Jayco extend your warranty due to the time it was in the shop getting repaired?

You guys make a valid point. I'm asking for an extension of the warranty when in fact there was little chance of it being used in the winter. Your right I'm not a snowbird yet so I would not have used it for that. We have in the past taken our trailer to use at a ski resort where you stay in the lower parking lot where power is provided and they keep the washrooms open at the lodge. It's a great way to still use your trailer. Had my trailer been stored at home undercover , it wouldn't have all the streaks it has now too but all that aside I remember seeing posts where people had there warranties extended due to the time it was in the shop being repaired. I don't think this is unreasonable. I will say I'm happy to have the latest version of the controller and motors installed for the slide out. They also did a good job fixing the tape on top of the trailer. The prior place I had it fixed slapped new tape over the old tape even after mentioning to them this was cautioned against. We love our Jayco and constantly get compliments on it when people see it at our house. Thanks for your time.

Certainly can't hurt to ask. If they say yes you win, if they say no, you're right where you were anyway.

I don't think they can say no by established Law. I can't site the specific reference, but I recall warranties having to be extended if the unit was unavailable for use for extended periods because of warranty service/repairs being performed. Its possible thst its a State by State statute, I'm not 100%sure, but I imagine someone on the forum can site the specific law(s) if needed.

Clubhouse,

Yes I remember reading about that too. If you find out more about this I would love to here about it. All three issues we had were with products made by another company that Jayco added to the trailer. The awning arm, Schwintek slide and the tape for the slide roof. The time it took to re and re the slide motors and controller is what took up the majority of the time. I've only had the trailer serviced twice under warranty and the second time was for two things that weren't fixed right from the first place.
