Firewood For Camping with RYOBI

Not sure if your like me, but I like to bring my own firewood with me when I go camping in our trailer. I know many campgrounds in our area frown on bringing your own wood, they would rather you buy THERE wood!!. Thats where plastic totes come in.

Anyways, I use to find wood and split it by hand. It was time consuming and back breaking. I found a RYOBI Electric Log Splitter. I have to say hands down this thing kicks butt. I have had it for 3 years now. I can split darn near anything with it. Hardwoods etc... You simply plug it in and away you go. I have split near whole cords and filled my wood rack in a timeless manner.

I am only posting this for anyone who was not aware of this splitter. Best part it is so small and on wheels goes in and out of my shed with no problems and takes up no space. I put mine in Husky Stands and I dont even have to bend over. it is simple to operate and it is pretty fast and amazingly strong. If I have trouble splitting a piece of wood I simply flip it around and split it again.

The part I like the most is that I can really quarter a log of wood. I mean for camping I like to really use small pieces so it dries and burns better. I find it stacks better in the totes and truck better.

Anyways you can buy this splitter at Home Depot. I hope this helps anybody trying to avoid a stroke like I was sure to have splitting my own wood.

Take Care...

Yep! Those are great! I got one for my tractor a few years ago and I can split almost a whole season worth in a an afternoon if I have to. I even get my 9 year old son to run the controls while I am loading the wood. I will never go back to hand.....

Log splitters are great. Especially when your kids have moved away.
