Has happened to a few people we know as well. Once we hook up, the lock goes on. Either way, still do a walk around & double check things.

Anyone that thinks pulling the black tank valve open is a funny practical joke should be made to drink a bit of what comes out. Disgusting!

Before I pull off my cap, I always look to make sure my levers haven't been pulled.

A few years back leaving our campsite after a week stay pulled out too close to a big rock on the clean out side. You can guess the rest.

I had the same happen once, kinda panicked thinking what to do, closed the valve and continued hooking up the hose, but only black valve was pulled neither of the greys, I don't forget to close them ever so somebody pulled it, I now just crack the cover and see if anything comes out, someone could pull the valve and let the tube fill with waste and then close it again, kinda wish I seen who dunnit.

I’m thankful my dump levers are in a locked compartment!

I had a similar experience with a Black Tank Cap, However, it turned out The waste gate was leaking, filling the space behind the Black Cap.f JayCo promptly repaired the issue.

Was this at the dump station or were you at your site trying to fill a portable poop tank?

I added a clear valve to the end of the factory setup first if you don’t see the valve is open you’re blind you can always close the valve before removing the cap and be prepared Ofer a little mess with a drain pan. Then attach the hose drain and rinse out the line before disconnecting and storing everything.
The above is on my 5ver I live in my Motorhome like most is in a lockable bay

On our last trip I went out on the second morning to empty the grey tank. As I pulled the lever and the water came rushing out, the connection to the sewer popped off. I panicked and shoved the lever back in and stood up quickly to reattach the pipe. Mistake. I smashed my head, just into the hairline above my left eyebrow, on the corner of the slideout. Wow, did that hurt - indescribable. Almost immediately I got a huge "goose egg" on my head, even after applying copious amounts of ice. Amazingly, I had a big gouge in my head but no bleeding. I guess the bleeding happened under the skin because 2 days later I sported the most dramatic, all encompassing shiner I have ever seen, on me or anyone else. It lingered for our whole 5 week trip and my husband and I both got some very strange looks. Forever forward I will check the sewer connection first and move slowly and with intention under the slide. Ugh!

Holy crap!! (pun intended)
If that was a "prank," it's not at all funny.
I have noticed, however, that my gate valve can leak...only occasionally. I have never encountered a full dump, but it bothers me that even a small amount of effluent might leak out onto the ground when I removed the cap. I added a short, clear section of pipe so I can see if there is anything immediately behind the cap. If so, I'll collect it with the hose end before attaching.

I did find that when connecting hoses, you can accidently hook only two of four and have a LEAK; gotta bend over and make sure all good BEFORE pulling the valves

I had somebody remove my hitch pin and clip while at a campground in Georgia and didn’t notice it til I arrived in southwest Fl! No way could it have come out by itself. Then I heard that kids will do that as a joke. Lucky I have 1500 lbs hitch weight.
