First Time Camping With Dogs At The Beach
Looking for suggestions for a trip beginning tomorrow with 2 dogs (a 90 lb Lab and a 7 lb Chihuahua mix). Heading to a National Seashore campground (no hookups) for a week. We are bringing water, dog food, biscuits, dog beds, leashes, dog waste bags, and some warm clothes for the Chihuahua.
Is there anything else we should bring? Are there any beach specific things we should be concerned about?
Tom

I bet the lab would like retrieving something thrown into the water. Does it have a special toy that floats you could bring along? Have a great time!

Rocky (the lab) enjoys the water until his feet no longer hit the ground. I will bring something that floats and try to keep it close to shore.
Thanks.

Sounds like you have the dog needs covered. How about the people needs like power, gas, propane, batteries, etc. ?
Without hookups, you're relying on your batteries and propane load to get you through the night.

X2, we always dry off the dog, when she is wet, or else everything is wet.
Our dog likes the attention of being brushed, so I will brush her out by the fire on a regular bases.

We were at this campground (Assateague Island National Seashore) a few weeks ago and here was our approach that worked:
- Start the trip with everything fully charged
- Start with full propane tank
- Have the solar panel help charge the house battery
- Use battery packs to charge phones
- Start with full fresh water tank and empty gray and black tanks
The weather forecast is for temps between 60 and 70 degrees, so I think we should not have to use AC or heat.
Since the last trip we've added a Weber gas grill (with canned gas) and a lithium battery backup for my Bi-Pap machine.

Ahhh, I was wondering if that was where you're going. We are going there for two nights at the end of next week. What site/area did you camp at? This is going to be the first full boondocking experience for wifey. I had to break her in slowly to that experience..
The big question, did you see any ponies last time?

We have a Lab too that comes along. One of the best brushes we found, specially when wet, is actually a horse shedding blade tool. Works really good when dry, too. I love my Lab, the the hair and shedding sometimes is a real PIA.

A small vacuum cleaner would be helpful. It will help control the sand they bring into the RV.

We were in a bayside site last time. This time we will be in an oceanside site. Two nights at one and then we switch to another oceanside site. There is a dump station and water available there.
We did see ponies and a whole lot of pony manure.
