First trip, learning stuff
At Cultus lake, BC on our first trip in our new trailer. Just discovered the city water does not fill the tank. Only the gravity inlet does. Nice running on city water without the pump running. Things you learn when you go from a forty year old trailer to a new one.

I'm not aware of any tanks that fill from the city water hookup. The only way I know of to fill your tank is with the gravity fill inlet.

I don't really know although apparently it does fill your hot water tank as that never ran out.
My 72 Sprite Musketeer had no holding tanks, the water from the "kitchen" sink ran out onto the ground, the black water tank was the port-a-potty in the bathroom and fresh water was a line straight from the hose inlet to the sink tap. It was a British Caravan and according to my English relatives all site are serviced there so no need for tanks.
When I saw a hose inlet and a larger inlet I guessed one was for filling with city water and the other was for when you had to use jugs. Like I said, learning stuff.
All in all it was a great weekend. Sunny and upper 20's C (amazing for BC this time of year). Everything worked on the trailer and our new 10 year old Ford Expedition was totally stable (but a bit underpowered) towing the 4400 lb Jay Feather X213.
Now I just need some time off work so I can go further.

It does fill your hot water tank, provided you let the air out by opening a hot water faucet. Always make sure there is water in the hot water tank before turning it on....

here is simple water flow diagram for a basic trailer setup...
They play games with one-way valves it seems...

Hi Paul,
I go out to the TT Cultas Lake CG at least once a year. I enjoy swimming in the lake and climbing up Teapot hill overlooking the lake.
Welcome to the forum. We love our Jayfeather trailer. We keep our trailer well stocked and have a second set of clothes and jackets and are able to leave within 30 minutes of wanting to go away. Most of our trips are across the boarder into Wa, Ore or California .
Was 30 degrees in the Valley today and nice to see after all the rain we've had.

Yep, the learning curve never stops even for long-timers. Yesterday, I put boards under wheels that made the level bubble go the wrong way

Great diagram. It's pretty much as I had pictured from others descriptions but it's useful to see it. Wish they put that in the owners manual.

I'll likely go more there then a few times this year. We like the idea of last minute camping too. From my house it takes about an hour and 15 mins to get to Cultus which means I can go at the last minute on Friday (assuming I can get a site).
Any recommendations for south of the border camping?

This is common on some motorhomes and fifth wheels. In the water control panel there is a valve to divert water to the fresh tank from the city inlet.
