Flex Seal on skylight

As my 2016 Jay flight gets older, I know the skylights start to get brittle. I was thinking of coating them with Flex Seal CLEAR spray as a way to protect them.. Has anyone done this? Or used a different method?

I have no experience with flex seal, but do have experience with plastic stuff sitting in the sun. I apply 303 Aerospace to all plastic & rubber parts of my boat. The stuff provides good UV protection. I'm in my 13 season, and things still look good. Nothing has become brittle. I just bought my trailer and plan to do the same on it. Easy to use. Spray on, then wipe off.

Not Flexseal specifically, but someone on here painted theirs with Plastidip IIRC. Or something similar?

I can't remember exactly what they used, but it was the same concept and they were happy enough with the results to recommend it to me.

I would not use Flexseal anywhere on an RV, skylights are cheap enough just replace it when its time.

What possible harm could it cause... Just curious why you say that..

I realize I'm responding to old posts, but ..... the skylights are acrylic (plexiglass) and do not have any UV protection at all. Within one year they yellow out and craze. Thin and brittle is an understatement.
By accident while putting the cover on for the winter, I stepped on one of mine and destroyed it. I replaced with a Lexan one made by a guy in TX on eBay for less money than a part from the dealer cost. Lexan is made with UV mitigation materials in the plastic. Some butyl seam material like used on metal roofs (HDepot) and some fresh Dicor and it's been three years.
It's still crystal clear, no leaks, and strong enough that I can stand on it. (I tested that right out of the box, not while installed)

I meant to throw my two cents onto your question since no one responded and got sidetracked by posting my own experience......plexiglass is not the most superior solution to a clear plastic application....but it's cheap. Cheap in a way that solvents can attack it causing a number of fails. Depending on solvents used, the plexi could cloud instantly...it could crack by sunlight activation.... it could just weaken the material further than it already is and while rolling down the highway in the rain, fall apart. You certainly don't want to get hit by hail and find out you lost your cover.

Materials like spray and wipe armour all and such are nothing more than water based acrylic 'washes' that contain drying agents and only last until the first good rain.

Sundancer said that for a few reasons:

#1 they get brittle after a few years and usually crack or break on a trip or just
before.
#2 the caulking cracks after a few years and instead of putting a bandaid on it
It should be removed to prevent it from leaking thru the screws and rotting
the roof out. ( let’s not leave it for the next owner hidden from sight). Or
you if you like the unit but now your faced with a huge repair bill.
#3 the cost is just dinner for two.

Thanks guys. Mine is fine but all yellowed out but was never clear in the first place. Be nice to have a clear one up there.

$470 plus $10 shipping.....I like Lexan (used on motorcycle windshields) but that seems a bit steep. Am I missing something.

Hmmm. 2 days ago the price was $46.99. I wonder if it's a typo or something. I'll definitely contact the seller before ordering. Not gonna pay that price.

I see lots of "premium" skylights on eBay in the $46 range, but they aren't Lexan.... $470 does seem really high to me too though.

All that guy's skylight listings now range from $300 to $470. Perhaps he saw a great chance to profit off of supply vs. demand... :/

This was posted a few months ago in the classifieds. Maybe the right dimensions, and still available. https://www.jaycoclassifieds.com/new...in-wrapper-297
