[QUOTE=troutslayer;405478]It surprised me that they would agree to this in the first place. If they repainted yours there would be a very long line for others to be repainted because they all rust.[/QUOT

X2 The frame on our 31.5 RLTS was just really bad when we got it. I didn't see any use to pursue the dealer because the most I could expect would be to put paint over a very rusty frame. Clearly needed sand blasting. We found a guy( same fellow that cleans and paints the cannons at Gettysburg battlefield for the park service) who sandblast and repainted with an epoxy paint. Did an outstanding job. Cost $800 but I'm very happy with the results.

I would agree if it was surface rust but trailer was only 8 months old when I reported the claim and by then bare metal was already exposed everywhere.

After a not so pleasant email from me Jayco reverted and will now pay to repaint the frame.

Frame and Suspension Rust

My Eagle HT fifth wheel is 4 months to the day old. It was picked up new at the dealership. I went out last weekend and had some time to have a look at the undercarriage and suspension. For something this new, the rust is ridiculous. Bolts, Frame Tube, Leaf springs, etc... crazy rusted for as new as it is and only driven about 50 miles.
I'm taking it in for a leaky water fitting and I'm going to have them look at the rust. Completely unacceptable. My truck has been driven through winter salt and it doesn't have a spec of rust underneath.
I was just checking out here to see if there have been similar experiences. I see there are...

You and I are on the same page. For the price these rigs cost there shouldn't be rust for at least 5yrs. My last truck was 10yrs old, had 230,000mi and was just starting to have rust on the frame. It should be no different with our trailers.

Oh for sure!
Both are meant to around a long time in my books.
I looked at an octane you hauler that was made two years ago. No rust on same suspension parts. They must have sprayed it. Iron and aluminum don't get along. This isn't new science.
