freestanding table vs dinette booth?

I want some opinions from people that got the freestanding table and chairs rather than the traditional booth.

In our current trailer we don't use the dinette. We find it is a pain in the neck trying to slide into the seat (I am 6-04) and that it never got used for anything other than storage. Looking at getting the chair option, but curious about real world experiences.

Do you find you have enough room with the chairs?

How much do table and chairs move during transport? We don't off road with our trailer, but bumps in the highway and through the campground happen.

Do you feel that this is a worthwhile upgrade cost?

Any other advice or opinions? I know I would be losing some storage space, but I'm not sure how big of a deal that will be.

Thanks!

We now have a table and chairs. I don't care for them. The trailer we have on order has the booth in it. I find the booth more comfortable to use (big thick long cushion), has storage capability and can fold into a bed. I had trouble squeezing into our chairs and 2 legs of the outside side are always on a different side of the slideout seam causing slight rocking. The table looks classier but I want my booth back. To each their own though.

Our previous Fiver had table and chairs and I reallly liked them. My DW however, likes the booth... we now have the booth.

Our previous TT had the booth dinette and our new TT has the free standing table and chairs. I prefer the table and chairs and as far as movement during travel they stay in position without any issue. The booth at least the one we had I found was cramped and with the free standing table the chairs the chairs can be positioned to allow you more elbow room however the U shaped dinette's looks to have more room vs the standard booth dinette.

We hated the booth on our previous TT. Our current unit has the table and chairs. Its a bit of a pain to get the bungie around the legs for travel but that what the kids are for. But we prefer the table and chairs unless maybe it was a booth with more room but they all seem tight to me..

We just switched out our dinette booth for a table and chairs. After about 15 mins, I couldn't stand sitting in the booth... I just found it too uncomfortable. Yes, I will miss the under seat storage and the simplicity of it but the table and chairs seem to make it easier to move about and the chairs are way more comfortable to sit in for any length of time.

Was this something you came up with or the dealer/Jayco?

It came with the camper as well as 2 covers to cover the tops of the chairs, one on each side, to prevent them from scuffing each other as they are very close when bungied to the table center..The covers were under the seat cushions. They lift for a little storage on all 4 chairs..

We have the table and chairs and love it, the previous trailer had the booth.

Our table has the extension and that helps too.

Thanks for the link, looks great! How were your booths attached to the floor? I've been toying with the idea of buying it with the dinette and booth setup and removing the booth that backs up to the couch and just replacing one side with chairs. I like the removeable table that comes standard (especially because we are planning on removing the table for a pack-n-play crib for the next 2 years), but would like the chairs for me.

I had one with a booth. Last 2 had tables/chairs. I would never go back. Much more versatile and comfortable.
No problems with rubbing or movement.

We've had both and there are things about each that I like and dislike. Table/chair is the current arrangement. My biggest complaint has been echoed, it's cramped. Looks classy but cramped. The bungee is also a pain (we're empty nesters).
Who uses the bungee? Or not?

Had the table and chairs, like them, but have the booth on new trailer, love the booth.

We had the booth in our previous TT, and I took out the bench next to the couch and used card table chairs. On the new Jayco, I got the table and chairs, but hated the chairs. They look good, but they are too big and bulky, so I went back to the card table chairs that fold away easily while traveling. In fact, we only use the couch side for chairs, and we have a small freezer on the other side.

We had booth in pervious trailer and have table and chairs in current one. Much prefer table and chairs as I was always cramped in the booth.

We only keep two chairs in the trailer, along with a card table chair or two. We keep canned food and other items in boxes designed for 24 bottles of beer on the floor under the table against the slide wall. We also store our trash can there when traveling. So there is really more usable space under the freestanding table. Our table is fastened to
the floor.

We don't fasten the chairs down when we travel and have no trouble with them
moving around.

You didn't indicate which trailer you have or plan to get, or how many people will
normally be living in it. This will have a lot to do with your decision.

We are leaning towards the Jay Flight 26BHS. Its my wife and I, 2 year old daughter and a new son will be coming in December. We don't use the dinette in our current trailer, mainly because its too small and a pain in the neck to get into.

I'm thinking for a couple of years we will need to have the kids inside eating breakfast and lunch, because it'll be too distracting to eat outside with all the action going on around us.

Our 1st trailer had a booth. The Jayco has table and chairs. Our Bungalow Had a booth but we got rid or it and got table and chairs. The table and chairs seem to fit our lifestyle better.

Thinking of taking out the booth and making an L shaped bench with a coffee/dining table that folds up.

dinette

We don't have a couch, but we do have the U dinette. The table is freestanding and I usually use it outside for stuff. It is to cramped inside except in the bed position. A tv tray table works much better inside as a table. There is just 2 of us and that set up works great.
This coming weekend, son and family of 3 women are joining us. I may have a different story come Monday.
