We carry 5-6 gallons in fresh water tank and 1-3 gallons in milk cartons stored in the shower tub when we travel. If we needed more water, we'd pick it up at or close as possible to our destination. Just don't need all the water, weight, stress on Thorjayco assembly, parts, suspension.

Sounds like your tank is cracked.
They dont “over flow” into the belly. They over flow onto the ground. And even if it did, how would your foot go through the floor because of it when your floor is above the tank?
Our tank is ON TOP of the floor, under front cabinets and partially under the bed. Four feet of the wood floor rotted out from the tank back. All the insulation between the floor and the black plastic sheeting was soaking wet.

We ripped the sucker apart and replaced the floor. I did NOT replace the insulation. I put an access port in so I could keep an eye on things.

There has not been a drop of water in 3 years now. So, the trailer is not leaking and the tank doesn't leak. It had to be right from the beginning.

Thor hasn't given the axe yet to Jayco's building processes. I think Jayco still does a superior job with fastening systems, component access points and overall build quality. I traded my Chateau 35SF for a Jayco and what a world of difference!! Sometimes you don't k own how good you have it till it's gone.

Sorry gypsmjim. I thought I was still on the 5th wheel page.
No 5th wheels would have the tank on the trailer floor. Thus my shock of how that could have happened.

Turned out all the insulation was still wet and the front quarter of the trailer under the tank was completely rotted out.

That's a reason not to drive with a full tank. I guess the dealer didn't know either, or he was sure it would show up after the warranty period.
If your water tank is above the floor like mine, the clamp on one of the hoses to the tank may not have been tight. That happened to me and I found water on the floor. I changed out the hoses and clamps for better quality ones and didn't have another issue with it, though I did check many times afterwards.

In any case, the overflow should drain to the outside through a port that is likely right beside the filler cap. That is shown by the air, bubbles and water that come out during a fill. Traveling with a full tank should never cause water to leak onto the floor.

That was my suspicion in the beginning. After making the repairs I continue to fill the tank full (till it overflows) and then it goes down as we use the water. It is left 75% full ALL the time.

Since the initial problem it has not leaked a drop since. I check it all the time. Even with the fill hose full of water for hours. My conclusion is that it took the sloshing around on the highway to cause the initial leak.
