Freshwater holding tank

I recently went to fill my freshwater holding tank and it began to backfill well before it was possibly full. Additionally I checked the gauge inside and it showed empty. When I opened the low point drain valve water stopped flowing out within a couple of minutes. Any have any ideas???

Thanks

How many overflow tubes do you see sticking out?
I have 2 tanks and 2 overflow tubes sticking out from under the chloroplast.

There is a overflow under the rv. Never seen one that hasn’t. What model and brand is the rv?

Just thought of something. Some don’t have a overflow under. Is your a gravity fill tank? Some of those have a overflow / vent tube beside the fill port. If that overflow/vent tube is plugged it can cause that but usually they will take several gal of water before you get back pressure.

your FW tank must have a vent/overflow line and a drain line. Low point drains are not part of the FW tank.

The fresh water drain tank quarter turn valves on my '12 Eagle are labeled as "low point drains'' on the side of my camper. Not sure why as my actual low point drains that drain the plumbing located on the other side of the camper are labeled the same. This causes newby confusion, as it did me some years ago.

My tank drains are labeled as "low point" also. Never noticed that minor detail before this year. Farther forward are the actual low point drain tubes, and they're labeled the same, but those valves are inside. Technically, they are indeed both low.

Low point drains are NOT over flow tubes!

Sounds to me like there are some other valves turned the wrong way or those valves quarter turn to some other function.

So would having a freshwater valve turned the wrong way prevent the tank from filling?

Do you have a valve where your filling that says city water / tank fill. If so yes it has to be turned to tank fill.

Mine has other valves that connect to the same pipe going towards the to tank. It takes a combination of valves in the correct position.
