Fridge Panic!

Ok, going camping tomorrow!!!

Turned the fridge on "Auto" like I have in the past, and the LED light is flashing a green light at me!!

Freezer is getting cold, fridge is taking awhile.

Is it maybe because I am hooked up to the truck and maybe the TT is not level?

I tried switching it to LP gas, and it still blinks at me!!

Do I panic now or wait until later?

Did I mention we got to the SP tomorrow????

Did you read your refrigerator manual? It has codes to tell you what the blinking light means. What brand and model is your refrigerator?

If your refrigerator is a Dometic the following link will take you to their online manuals. http://www.dometic.com/enus/Americas...Instructions2/

We store the family TT in my driveway since I have tons of room and it's easy to back in. I leave it plugged in, but leave the fridge off and open. My brother was going camping last Thursday so I turned the fridge on Tuesday night before going to bed because he would be picking the TT up Wednesday and we wanted it to be cold before putting his stuff in.

When I got home from work Wednesday it was cold and I loaded about $100 worth of meat I had bought for him. He came over to take it home but we couldn't really get it level in his driveway. It was the first time being there. We kept on eye on things and the fridge appeared to be working fine. We checked it a bit later and the temp was about 40 and the display wasn't normal. Don't remember what it said exactly. We ended up taking all the food out and keeping it in the home fridge. They had to put all their food in coolers the next day when they left because there was no way to level the TT until they got to the CG about 30 minutes away.

This was the first time we experienced this so I guess he won't be taking the TT to his house to pack it anymore. Good thing he's only 5 minutes away. lol

I like to turn my fridge on a couple days before I leave camping that way I have an extra day or 2 to panic. I also have a thermometer in it to monitor the temp, that way I know how long it takes to cool down. It takes longer to cool on electric so I always cool it on gas also if it is really hot outside it takes a lot longer to cool.

If your fridge is blinking at you than you have another problem or it means it really likes you.:hihi:

Mine has done this a couple of times now... I just turned the switch to off for a couple of seconds then switched it back to Auto or LP and it stopped blinking.

Just did it to me again last night when I dropped the trailer off at the campground.

Ditto rwilley - these fridges don't cool down all that fast. I use a cheap wireless thermometer similar to this one on Amazon. Lets me know the temp inside without letting out the cold by opening the door.

It also lets me adjust the fridge if it is getting too warm or cold in there. My fridge has a 1-5 switch.

I am curious though - there is a little black thing that looks like it might be a thermometer. Perhaps 1=50, 2=45, 3=40 etc or similar.....I'll have to play with it a bit.

A couple of years ago we had trouble or thought we were having trouble with our fridge called mobile repairman he checked everything out and told us nothing was wrong that it just takes a empty fridge longer to cool down. Said to put a couple gallon jugs of water or put pop or beer in fridge and it would cool down better. so that is what we do I am not sure that it cools down any faster but DW seems to think it does so that is what we do.

Best way I have found to cool down the fridge is to put "already cold" or frozen stuff in it and it really helps bring the temps down quicker.
