Funny Findings

So last week a bunch of us went to Bristol for the Nascar race. (unfortunately we didn't get to see Sprint Cup race b/c it rained it out on Saturday). :-(

Anyway .... we had the MH at the house still yesterday so i could wash the mud off of it and get her ready to go back to storage.....

While cleaning i noticed some "dirt" up near the awning at front of coach. Went to get ladder so I could clean. All the while wondering how mud got up there.

Only to find out it wasn't mud but blood ... a sparrow had tried to play chicken with the RV and lost. He was still stuck btw the awning and the MH.

SO ... sad for the bird but definitely an odd situation.

Last time we went out there was a swarm of honey bees that that had moved into my fifth wheel hitch. I had to send them to bee heaven to get hooked up.

On a recent trip I spotted a crow flying towards the highway, moving from my left to my right. I got a sinking feeling in my stomach as he got closer to the highway and I got closer to the point where he was going to cross the highway...I just knew that it wasn't going to end well. I've had crows buzz my truck before...I think they get a kick out of seeing how close they can get before turning away at the very last moment. Well, unfortunately, this guy apparently didn't account for the 13' of extra height I was towing behind. He buzzed my truck alright and by the time he realized there was something behind me, it was too late. I looked into my drivers-side mirror just in time to see him bounce off the side of the fifth wheel. A truck traveling in the opposite direction almost ran off the highway as all of sudden something black, the size of a small dog, landed in the lane right in front of him. Definitely a first for me. I'll bet that other guy's heart skipped a beat or two.

Norty1,
I hope you were not in Georgia when you killed those honeybees. If so, you just admitted to a misdemeanor.

I also found out recently that it's illegal in Georgia to kill chipmunks. Not that I would ever harm those cute little creatures that did $6000 damage to my foundation.

"Honestly Officer they must have committed suicide."

I have had two bird encounters while in a vehicle. many, many blue moons back. I was riding with a friend on the way back from camping. A small bird flew into the windshield of the truck right in front of me. I jumped as I was not paying attention for a bird.

A couple years ago, I was running an errand with my FIL, while turning onto a cloverleaf ramp, a large owl decided to crash into our windshield. That truck had a sunshield visor on it. It got sucked up to the top of it. That one I saw coming.

Never happened to me but owls are attracted to headlights at night time. It's not uncommon for them to fly right into vehicles at night time.
