Gas Mileage with Toyota Tundra 4.7

Hi - Newbee here. Have Jay Flight 26BH and 2006 Toyota Tundra 4.7 Litre V8
Am getting 7.85 miles per gallon with gross CAT scale weight of 11080. Any other Tundra owners out there have similiar results or is something amiss here?

Went to Myrtle Beach State Park. What a beautiful camp ground. We have
also camped at Dreher Island in central SC which is also very nice.

Have been reading posts on this forum for about 2 months and have learned
alot, and am impressed how civil folks are.

I pulled a 22FB with a 2010 Tundra, 4.6L, slightly smaller engine, slightly smaller trailer and averaged around 10mpg towing. My truck had the tow package. if your's doesn't and you have a higher gear, you may not be far off from normal. I also pulled around 60MPH, much more and mileage went to hell in a handbasket.
Now I'm pulling 8000lbs with a 5.7L w.tow package and getting about the same MPG. Not apples to apples, but I hope this helps.

I pull a 26BH with a Ford F150 5.4L and get 7 to 8 mpg. I would figure you are right where one can expect to be, as these trailers snag a lot of wind when rolling down the road.

Thanks for your replies

Have towing package and was doing average of around 55 mph; some fairly flat, and some hilly terrain.

Also found that if I used curise control, transmission would shift into lower gears alot more than a steady foot without cc.

With a tota weight of 11175 (19h no water & f250) just under 9 @ 65-70 mpg and just under 10 @60 mph. No mountains just a few hills on 101 in so. NH @ 95 up to Grey Me. I know the tt is smaller but the drag is the same and thats the culprit. Larry

Hi Nighthawk 96,
I have the exact same TV and TT and I get 11 mpg over normal California terraine. If I hit the mountains then I get 10. This is with the air on and 200-300 lbs in the bed.
