I'm more concerned of the long lines and shortages than paying the high prices. I'm afraid we are heading in that direction. Not looking good

I fully agree with ya. Its already happening here. Earlier this past week our Sam's club gas was, and always is, cheaper. At one point my wife was sitting in line, got out of her car and counted 50 cars in line. They were 6 lanes wide thru the parking lot and bottlenecked down to one lane on to the service drive and out on the road. I was there yesterday and there were at least a half dozen people in line, but maybe half the pumps were open. The rest were all coned off. I find out they had already run out of 87 and had very little 93 left. It's just a matter of time before the rest start to run dry and people panic like the start of COVID 2 years ago.

I'm also a working class stiff. My employer ran off a bunch of my co-workers with back in October-November with illegal shot mandates. Most of the guys we lost had ~40 years of tenure. The work we do isn't something where you can just hire a guy and put him on the street the next day. It takes months. Now, those of us that remain have overtime mandated. I logged 14.5 hours for the current two week pay period that ends tomorrow.

They didn't tell us how or when to do the overtime. They just told us that everybody needs to work some overtime to achieve some more work every week. I'm getting most of mine early in the mornings. I get up at 4:30-5:00 every morning anyway. I can go to work an hour early just as easy as I can sit on the couch for an hour every morning.

I'm tired, and I'm beginning to feel like I have no life. My retirement date is 8 years and 11 days away.

Keep it up, mister! Those 8+ years are gonna go by faster than you know. I got just under 3 years and anything after that is a bonus. I'm prolly gonna go 4 years which will take me within a few months of the end of my contract.
Overtime for everyone is different. Some can work it and others can't. I've always been one of those people (idiots, lol) that work my allotment and WAY more. For me it's all or none. Once I get I to my OT mode its like I become a robot for weeks to months on end. Most I've ever worked was 104hrs in one week and in a totally different week I pulled down 52hrs straight with no sleep. I knew it was time to pull off that job when I looked down and saw three of the same thing in my hand when I knew full well I only had one. Talk about burned out,... lol!

After 38 years with the company, I'm just ready for it to be done.

In that many years, you see the cycles of a business. I hired on during one of the great times. For the past 25 years, we've been in a slow, painful slide. The current time is one of those low valleys.

Came down to Skidaway Island State Park earlier in week. DW was not sure due to prices but I insisted we go. Just filled up yesterday outside Savanna @ $3.89. Other issue was that gas pumps are stopping @ $100.00 (even with talking to clerk). Yes, I could start all over but I was really close to being full. All stations today are $3.99 or higher.

Gas Buddy said diesel will be over $7 by May and stay there the balance of the year. I am thinking I may siphon gas from my boat at some point, it has about 250 gallon in it and boat use this year may be low this summer. Also hate to see where marine gas prices are headed, at less than 3/4 mile per gallon she can sit.

Diesel in Kingman jumped 40-Cents a gallon from Friday morning to Saturday afternoon.

Some stations jumped .60/gal since Thursday.

You will be working overtime to make up for the inflation. In other words your $80 and hour overtime will be making about the same amount as straight time.

Just drove by our neighborhood Chevron. Never thought I’d be surprised that premium is “only” $5.49 and diesel is “only” $5.79. But that’s how fast prices have gone up here.

Regular gas at a local station in central VA, I 95 area just hit $4.07. Wow. It's been years (think 80's) since that has happened here. 50 gallon tank, 3 fill-ups to northern Vermont, OUCH. I am a workamper though and will be heading north in about 2-months. Not sure how high gas would cost before I change my mind. A co-workamper is currently in AZ with his F350 diesel and 40' 5W. He's cancelled. The only thing more concerning is what will the cost will be October!! It is what it is.

Good post. "It is what it is", I wish I could read the future, but then I'd have the problem of being rich. Not a problem now.

It won't be long and the truckers will be at it again. Instead of shutting down borders, theyll just shut down. Uncle Joe better step up and do something before they do, or I think itll get ugly fast.

Are we spoiled and entitled? Yep! We as Americans have fought and worked our butts off for 246 years to be spoiled and entitled. Should we be doing more to stop the genocide being inflicted on the Ukrainian people? Yep! Would Americans be willing to pay more for energy to stop the killing? I believe we would.Have we got weak leaders that are putting their political ambitions above doing what’s right ? I guess that’s the real question here.
