Gas Prices
Is anyone worried or canceling plans due to the crazy gas prices? Going from NJ to Orlando this summer, starting to get worried. My other trips are 300-400 miles so they aren’t to bad but this is getting crazy.

Not yet & we have planned a trip from SW Ohio to Minnesota to Kansas to Missouri & back home. Already paid for campgrounds along the way.

Gas Prices
I bet most won’t. It’ll be painful. Just some quick math with round numbers…. A 3000 mile trip at 10mpg would’ve cost me 975-1000 this past summer. If we hit $5 average all over it’ll be 1500ish. I’d bet for another $500 most will press on. I’d imagine most won’t travel 3000 miles so even less than that $500. The suck will really take hold when then this creeps into food and activity cost.

I think $5 is optimistic. I'm betting it's closer to $7 when all is said and done by June..ish. In my area, it went up 28 cents today between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. If it does that tomorrow, it'll be over $4 for 87 octane.

Right now it would not bother me, and we have a trip planned. Gas prices are less along the way and where we would be going, than it is here right now. Diesel is $4 and climbing and regular gas is $3.85 and up. Premium is $4.40 (of course the Audi takes premium).
Pulling the toad I get 6-7 so let's say 6.5 for 3000 miles. Gas in NM, TX, OK, KS is running 3.40 is $1,569 for the trip. Probably around $400 higher than past trips and maybe equal to what we paid with the Duramax/toyhauler when diesel went up with the last spike.
That said, if it keeps going up, I am going to reconsider and I think this is not over yet.

The prices are bad enough but I just hope there is gas and diesel fuel for us to buy when we get ready to hit the road.

There is no problem with supply, it is just what those who supply us charge for it.

One of our oil suppliers is involved with a genocide. The major oil companies are refusing to do business with them and a year or so ago we curtailed our oil production to the point that we are no longer energy independent. I think we may have a supply issue sometime in the near future.

I believe you are correct. We import 660,000 barrels a day from "one of our oil suppliers".
Not mentioning names, or getting political, but some folks seem to have a handle on what's happened in the last year, and what's happening presently.
Good post, and I hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings with mine.

The oil is out there. Including our own, Canada, Mexico and others on this side of the world. The fact that his government can't seem to get its act together and bring us back to oil independence leads to the fact that oil shortages will happen. We either open our oil production again, to the point it was when we were the number one producer or we continue to buy and face being shut off. OPEC has already refused our request (begging) for more oil.

Our 87 octane has jumped from 3.79 to 4.39 in the last two days. Another .30 for 89, and .60 for 93. I saw diesel for 4.29 at one station we passed. I'm sure it's not the last of the increases in the near future.

We're leaving tomorrow for a three week trip visiting family in Florence, Al, Destin, Fl, and Nashville. A little over 2,000 miles. The higher cost for fuel, and everything else for that matter, will sting, but it sure beats sitting around the house!

Just got back from a non-RV trip to the N. California coast. Diesel was slightly under or over $6/ gallon. Premium about $5.99. Yeah, I remember the oil crisis around 1975-76. Odd/even days to buy gas and shortages. But I’d gladly pay 59 cents a gallon again!
