I have the Champion 3100 Inverter generator and it will run the 13500 btu AC unit on my TT. They are $999 at Costco now and when I got mine almost 3 yrs ago when they first came out, it was $699. For the money, they can't be beat, they are lighter than the Honda 3000 so it is easier to load in my truck. I had the contractor grade Champion 3500 and it was way too noisy for camping, I sold it. I also have a Champion 2000 watt inverter generator that I use most of the time since my need is mostly to keep the battery topped up. I went to the Early RV show and was thinking of buying the 120 watt portable solar charging unit but after I was talked to the salesman, he told me that it needs direct sunlight to work effectively. Most of the sites that I camp at are shady so that pretty much nixed that idea.

At Costco that 3100 Champion normally sells for $799. It happens to be -$100 right now (California) @$699. I really want the remote start but for $300 more... I'm not so sure.

Get the inverter, it is quieter and only runs the engine based on the load, so also more fuel efficient. Get any brand you like, my suggestion is a honda. I use mine for a week at a time a couple times a year and it has never missed a beat.

Unfortunately, with the exchange rate makes it more expensive to buy products across the line. I do like the idea of the remote start, it sure would be nice.

One thing I have noticed with the Champion 3100W Inverter Generators is the ones sold in Canada require an adapter installed into the 30A plug in order to plug your trailer's power cord into.

The ones sold in the US have the correct plug hard wired into it so no adapter required. This is huge to me as a lost adapter would render the genny useless (30A wise anyways).

Despite the bad dollar right now I think I'll just get a US model anyways for this reason.

I have the two Yamahas as you can see in my signature. They are 44 lbs each so easy to move or load in your truck. Have a set of cables to connect them together in order to get full 30 amp service to my trailer.

Good to know - unfortunately the nearest US Costco is a 10 hr round trip for me! Thx for the info - maybe I'll pick up a 2nd adapter to have on standby.

Offspring22; Those adapters are at any RV store or you can make your own. Paint the thing yellow or bright orange and you will not loose them.

Just wanted to add to the discussion... I bought the Champion 3100w inverter non elec start at amazon on a flash sale for $670 a couple of months ago. Finally got up to about 75 deg here today and thought I'd try it out on my 15k a/c on my TT. I didn't try it in eco mode, but ran in regular mode for an hour with no problem! I am very happy with the generator as far as initial quality/noise level are concerned.
