We went with the Yamaha 2000 Watt inverter. Although it is not enough to power the A/C unit, we live in WA, and for A/C we open the windows, if ever needed!

Larger AC units may need two EU2000i’s paralleled together.
The EU6500is works well for fifth wheels and RVs with dual AC units.

One very important detail they forget to mention. Altitude! I have a yamaha EF2400iSHC. After some experimentation, I found out that it won't start our AC above ~5K feet unless the fan is running on low before the compressor tries to cycle on. Above ~6K feet, it doesn't matter.

I don't have a hard start capacitor yet. That may help, but have been up as high as 8500 feet. Luckily, you rarely need any AC at those elevations.

We also bought the 3100 Champion Invertor, have had it about 6 months but so far it has worked excellent.

It has a 30 amp plug on it and ran our ac or a hair dryer or a coffee pot or a microwave or a or a or a......

Have to remember one thing at a time.

We bought the Honda EU6500is to use with our fifth wheel. I viewed it as in investment.

I want to be able to run anything and everything in my camper and not be bothered with generator management. With the 6500, all I have to do is fill the tank twice per day and turn the key.

Twice a day? Wow, I just filled the tank for my Honda EU2000i today for the first time in two weeks. The tank is a 7 gallon marine tank for use in boats, connected to the generator with a length of flexible gas hose. Running the genny 4 or 5 hours a day averages just a half gallon of gas each day. But I don't really use a lot of electricity. If I did, I'd be running a bigger generator myself.

My generator runs 24/7 when I am camping. The tank on the 6500 is about 4.5 gallons.
