I had my Champion 3500 tuned up recently. The small engine repair shop called to tell me the generator is running 75 hertz as opposed to the correct 60 hertz.
Will running my generator for my TT damage something?
Do I need to get a new generator?
Apparently the hertz cannot be corrected or adjusted
The next steps depend on which model you have (inverter or not). For most, if not all non-inverter based generators, the engine speed controls the frequency, although this isn't true for inverter based generators. Running 75hz is not what you want to run your RV (or most anything) with so you do need to correct this issue. ~CA
If that is not an inverter generator, you might want to find a better repair shop. Craig is correct.
If inverter, sounds like the timer portion of the circuit board has failed. Buying a replacement board and getting installed might be more expensive than a new gen, but do not know. Be prepared!
