I'd suggest using an Progressive Industries Electrical Management System (PI EMS) even when you're running on generator power. Generators can fail just like anything else. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by doing so.

Simply insert a "bonding plug" into one of the unused outlets on the generator to use the PI EMS with your generator. If you attempt to use the PI EMS without a bonding plug the PI EMS will shut down power and display an E2 (open ground) error.
