Getting minor things fixed under warranty

I have an appointment at the RV dealership for some minor repairs to be done. I am still within my 2 year warranty. My question to everyone is this: Should I go through the RV and find any minor problem and have them fix it? I don't have any major issues, just small stuff like trim coming lose, and a leaky faucet that I could probably fix. However, since it is under warranty I figure I should point out every minor issue and let them fix it. What does everyone think?

I would find everything that I could and get it fixed under warranty before the warranty runs out.

When it came to repairs I figured I could do a better job myself, and not have to hassle dragging the TT to the dealer only to have it sit for weeks. I never went back for any warranty work although Jayco did send me a check for the nasty mattress, the HWT outer cover flew off on a trip home one weekend so they replaced it, and my entry door warped and paint chipped so they sent me a new door.

Save yourself some aggravation and fix the little things your able too, probably do a better job anyway. The dealers are all swamped and you may well get the newbe working on your RV fixing the "little stuff". Plus you don't need to haul it back and forth. Actually half the fun is working on the RV also. Anything your dragging down the road at 65mph is going to have issues over the years. Learn to take care of them and have the enjoyment of achieving something. You will others on here all aggravated because of some small issue. Save your dealer for the big stuff.. JMHO

Here's my advice, and worth what you paid for it, have a list of every little thing that needs to be fixed!

I say this, from personal experience, once it has been documented and repaired, if something goes wrong with that repair in the future, it may be covered again!

Our Whitehawk had a soft floor issue that we brought to the attention of the dealer under the warranty. Several months after the 2 year warranty expired, the floor again had soft spots. We asked the dealer to see if Jayco would assist in a fix. To the surprise of the dealer and ourselves, Jayco covered the repairs and they were extensive includind an all new flooring. I am not sure Jayco would have been willing to assist had the dealer not made a repair under warranty.

I fix anything I can myself. I document it and take pictures. I send a copy to Jayco and my dealer that I purchased from so they will have record of all repairs. I only use the dealer for things I can't fix. It's there now for a slide adj. They keep it way to long and seem to have problems fixing even the small stuff. I keep mine in inside storage but at the dealer it sits outside in the rain on side of the road for anyone to damage or steal from it and the dealer say's their not responsible for damage or thief when at there location. This is the third trip for the slide problem that was their when I purchased it.

The OP is talking small repairs not major as you stated. I agree if I had floor, roof, sidewall delam, etc., mine would also be headed to the dealer as I would not even think of doing that type of work under warranty. Sounds like you got lucky and Jayco stepped up and did the repair after the warranty expired.

I’ve see several posts where the TT was taken in with a list of major and minor squawks and only the major ones were addressed. I expect the major items get the attention and the minor ones are “filler” tasks that drop thru the cracks. Loose trim, drippy faucet and the like are DIY. They get done, done better and makes the owner smarter.
