Good Jayco Factory Experience
Our new 5th wheel has issues with the roof. Some of the plywood has come loose and flexes. You can see where it lifts the rubber away from adjacent panels. We had our dealer look at it, then when we were at the factory to have slide toppers installed, we asked them to look at the roof and see what they think.
Jayco agreed that the roof needs to be totally replaced. New plywood, rubber, trim, and all new vents and skylight. We made an appointment for the first available slot in February.
We like our dealer, but are much more confident in the Jayco factory to have the right equipment and materials to fix it properly. They have one bay at their repair facility dedicated to roofs. They'll take a week to fix it, where the original install was probably an hour.
I'll ask them to check the insulation and A/C ducts while they have the roof open.
Our overall first impression of Jayco factory service is great. They installed slide toppers for half the price of what the dealer wanted, and did it right.
I really feel that our repaired roof will be better than new.
Meanwhile, we still have full use of the trailer, and started our first real camping trip when we left the factory. Slide toppers worked great through major Michigan rain storm. A little water pooling, but it ran off when the slides went in.
