Hail Damage---sympathy or advice?

Well, thinking winter had to be close at hand---we uncovered the camper that weekend. Guess what Omaha got this week? HAIL AND SNOW. Guess what we found today? Let's just say we will now be calling our camper "Dimples".

The whole front is is pitted. Darn--just got it last summer and camped a couple times. We were luckier than some---the guy 3 stalls down had a skylight cave in and water damage.

I searched on here and found a couple posts about hail damage. I think we may just leave it--I'm a bit hesitant having it "fixed" and then really having problems. Unfortunately, on each side of the front (where the side meets the front). There are strips covering the seam---and there are holes where the hail broke through. Those will need fixed--when I look down in there I see screw heads--so potential for water problems?

I still plan on loving my camper and enjoying it ! Life's too short to get all stressed out!

I was in the deal this winter for something. Two of their bays have a glass wall between them and the parts area. While there they had a Swift siding torn off on one side. I was speaking to a service rep about why the siding was all removed. They stated they were replacing it due to hail damage. I watched them for a few minutes, the siding was being installed from the top down.

If your insurance can/would cover it I'd say get it fixed otherwise I wouldnt pay out of pocket to have those sides replaced. Just roll it and enjoy. Hey...gives it character right?

Hi to a fellow Omahan!
I feel your pain as my daughter's family house, car, and pickup in Harvey Oaks in Omaha are all now dimpled! :lightning:

Fortunately we both keep our RVs at a storage lot in Irvington which escaped the heaviest hail so no damage. I live in Maple Village so only had marble sized hail here.

Hope you can get a quick resolution to your damage and have a most enjoyable camping season (if it ever gets here as we are having snow/sleet showers again today!).

I caught some hail on the front of my trailer. Insurance paid to replace all the damage. I took the check - and the dimples get less and less noticeable over time.

Only risk is if more claimable damage happens to areas of the trailer that I didn't repair. And even then, that risk is only to the amount of the claim for the hail. As I know the dimples are popping themselves out, I should clean the front of the trailer and take some good pics. At the rate it is going, the damage may be un-noticeable in a few years

I'm good with that...

In 2011 we had damage to the front, both sides, and both slides to our 2009 32BHDS. It was going to require every seem and what not to be broken. I was skeptical that it could all be put back together correctly. We took the $16k from the insurance company and paid the trailer off with a few $ left over. Not having a monthly payment sure made those dents not look so bad.

Did those of you who put in a claim experience an increase in your premiums?

And the weatherman was right--it hailed again last night and it is snowing like crazy right now!!!

I don't remember a premium increase, if it did it wasn't enough that it was noticeable.

We had hail damage to the front of our camper last summer. I'm fussy about those type of things so we had it repaired. The Insurance agent said no premium increase on that kind of damage which is covered under comprehensive. Somewhere on this forum is a link is a video on how Jayflights are built and it shows how the skin is put on, the only place there could be leaks would be at the roofline where the front joins the roof, The side moulding is caulked, in fact I think the dealer may have done a better job than the factory. The dealer said no leaks with this type of repair, I have a lot of confidence in our dealer and believe them.
