Hanging Hat/Coat rack on wall
The wife has purchased a hat/coat rack she wants hung on the wall by the door. I am not about to drill holes in those thin walls so she bought some sticky pieces to use. I am afraid these may not hold up and will tear the wall paper. Has anyone done anything like this on their camper? I have an Eagle HT 29.5BHDS. Thanks

Sticky pieces called Command?
Hooks & Strips
Shouldn't dewallpaper if weight limits and instructions are followed

We've used the Command strips with success on the wall paper, but I don't recommend using it on the "wood". Learned the hard way that it tears the "veneer" when it's taken off.

I think you have several options.
1. We actually did drill two holes in those thin walls. We used toggle bolts and have had no problems whatsoever with hanging clothes and coats on those hooks. Our coat rack is four hooks on a piece of wood that is about 2 foot long with 5 hooks.
2. Get a coat rack that is long enough that it spans between two studs. Locate the studs with a studfinder and then anchor each side of the coat rack to the stud. This will give you the strongest hold and then you can hang whatever weight the hooks will hold without worrying about tearing through the wall. After all, those studs are holding up all your cabinetry...your clothes hopefully won't weigh that much!
3. Use the command hooks...probably will hold...might not depending on how you apply and what you hang.

We used Command hooks in our previous trailer and they worked great. Didn't try removing them though.
Haven't got around to adding hooks to current trailer. There's lots of storage as it is.

My wife wanted the same thing, a coat rack. I wasn't about to start putting holes in the walls of my camper. We compromised and we ended up getting a "over-the-door" towel rack and use it as a coat rack on the back of the bedroom door.

I would have thought the opposite. (Tear the wallpaper, remove easily from the "wood"). I put one on the bathroom door! oops! Although I have no intention of ever removing it unless it breaks.

If you do need to remove it in the future, use fabric softener.

I've used these with great success on my 5'er, and my previous two travel trailers.

Since the wall paneling is only 1/8" luan, with a vinyl covering, I would find the studs and screw into those. I installed several in the bedroom and in the main area. Command strips in our heat have a tendency to fail over time (Arizona), especially when you add the weight of coats etc. I would not use mollies into the luan as luan is not particularly strong and if they tear out you really have an issue.
Good Luck.

Installed on in My Hybrid on the wall outside the shower. Used short screws that I coated with Gorilla Glue and it has held for about 5 years now. No problems.

I would treat any exterior penetrations like I do those on my boat. I would use 3M 4200 for non-permanent and 5200 for permanent installations. Sikaflex also makes some good sealant products for the marine world and I would use those too.
