Have you replaced all the Jayco fasteners yet?

I swear, every time we go out on one of our +/- 300 mi R/Trips (23 so far in 3 summers) something falls off the wall, shelves collapse, trim comes loose. Even a ceiling speaker fell out. Now the HVAC cover won't stay on and will need screws.
So... I always carry a drill, plenty of wood screws, and the OEM staples are slowly but surely all being replaced.
I assume I'm not alone...

Oh dear. Ours came with extra screws.. We just did a shakedown campout. One cabinet had some 20 loose screws. Now to find the holes missing their screw.. Before we went camping he took the dinette seats apart and rebuilt them with fasteners that actually go into something and added metal seat braces.

Our door keeps opening on the road.. The punch list is growing.. fortunately we can fix everything..

Why is the roof mounted A/C cover BLACK? So it can work harder?

Of course a full tool bucket has gone with us on every camping trip.

As I mentioned on another thread it probably has minimal if any impact on the efficiency. All the a/c companies make black shrouds and the design engineers have probably already looked at it.

I've got nearly 20,000 miles on mine and knock on wood (not too hard) other than finding some loose outrigger bolts I haven't had anything come loose other than the usual bed supports...

If you are having that much trouble with fasteners, have you balanced your trailer’s wheels? If not, you should.

Apparently no one at Jayco knows about dissimilar metal corrosion. They insist on using steel screws into aluminum. In short order the screws rust and eat up the aluminum. Right after I brought my trailer home, I walked around it and changed all the exterior steel screws to stainless steel.

. come drive Maine roads . They will pop
the balance out of your tires in a heartbeat.
Best is our fave campground 65 miles of dirt roads
Fasteners must join something with something other than air

Zinc plated screws are a better combination with aluminum than stainless steel screws with aluminum. The aluminum will deteriorate with stainless steel. Easier to replace a corroded zinc plated screw than the aluminum part.

With both combinations the key is to keep the screw to aluminum dry by ensuring water drains out and does not stay.

Have you had your tires balanced? They don 't come balanced. I had the tire shop check them for roundness also. We know trailer tires have other issues so I check the obvious first.

I've never seen a trailer at a tire place. Or did you take it to the rv dealer?
I imagine I'd just take one wheel in at a time..

I take two in at a time. Front set and rear set. Axle sits on jack stands positioned near the springs while wheels are off.

Spare comes along in one of the two trips to the tire dealer.

Had to replace the outside door grab handle because they used some wimpy wood screws.

At times I think they use whatever screw is in their fastener waist pouch at the time.

@eow Great thanks for that and for raising this topic, which honestly I'd never heard or even considered, but makes so much sense!
Right, 2 wheels at a time. I can do that.

I've got a month before our 2 month escape from Phoenix to the PNW and down the California coast (fires permitting) .
It's our 1st time using rvtripwizard, booking 27 stops for 62 days. I don't need unbalanced tire shaking!

If you give tire and TT specifications, U will calculate a highest pressure at wich probably nothing falls .what pressure did you use?

Sounds like you need to have all trailer tires BALANCED?

The biggest,”ARE YOU KIDDING ME”, I had was the bottom, of the bottom kitchen sink cabinet shelf collapsed, as did my 2 wardrobe cabinet bottoms. It seems they don’t know BASIC construction or have BASIC common sense. They put 1x girts on top of a luan shelf and nailed it up from below with staples! GENIUS!

Fix, remove the 1x and put it under the shelf. VERY DIFFICULT to do! NOT!

I feel your pain OP. I'm having a new entry door installed next week. Took two years to get it approved.
