Hitch Pin Lock?? Need help finding one.
So after picking up our TT I have tried at least a half dozen different hitch locks that I have for different trailers and I cannot find one that will work with the Jayco Hitch. The tongue looks different it has a sort of rolled lip thing and the latch sits very low. Because of the way the latch fits when the ball is engaged I can't get a lock to fit through and to lock it that way. I feel much better if he had some sort of lock on it instead of just a pin through it.
Has anyone else had this issue, or can you suggest a specif lock that fits?

You are talking about locking the coupler release lever, correct?
I have a small, brass, Brinks (brand) ordinary pad lock that I have had for YEARS that has been on LOTS of trailers. Mine takes a little wiggling, but has always fit.
Hope that helps at bit. I don't have more specifics, but my trailer isn't here at the moment; sorry.

I have a set of Master long shank paddle locks (all use same key) that I use, one each for TT, boat trailer, and ATV trailer. Often though I just use clip pin when traveling, main purpose for me is locking trailers when not in use. I am in kinda isolated setting and more worried about one of the trailers disappearing when no one home...
I believe worrying about the clip pin disconnecting would less of a chance compared to the hitch pin (I have a lock for that also but rarely use) though thinking will start as now ya got me thinking (maybe over thinking...)

I use the same thing that SCOUTR2 uses to keep the hitch from being pulled out from the truck hitch and I also use a small pad lock to keep the hitch locked down over the hitch ball... I lock the hitch in the closed position and keep that locked as well. The idea is not be able to drop the trailer hitch onto a hitch ball when it is closed...
If we are going to gone for awhile when the trailer is parked I will also use one of the locking wheel hub covers on one wheel that has a bar that goes thru the wheel to keep it from turning. The bar hits the trailer frame... I also keep the hitch ball locked also to keep you from dropping the the hitch on a trailer hitch ball...

I do like to have a lock in it when traveling, and when away so it would slow someone from hooking up.
Here is a shot of the lats one I tried. The shaft is too long to fit down into the hole in the latch. I have never had a latch recessed like this before.

I use a sliding boat trailer padlock. Works great. But I feel your pain with the way the hitch ball receiver is made. Why do the edges need to roll up higher than the damn hole anyway?

And remember..you're just keeping it from lifting and sliding back. There's not a whole lot of circumstances that will cause that. It would almost have to be intentionally done. In theory, a wire tie would keep it from releasing, but I wouldn't recommend it. But for an emergency (on the road), it works. Been there, done it.

All good advice, I always have my hitch locked. A class IV hitch and ball add up even in scrap metal. I have seen boat trailers stolen down here where they just pull the pin on the TV, slide the boat and hitch over the next truck and drive off.
In a bind I have used a bolt and nut, but as TWP said, "Why do the edges need to roll up higher than the damn hole anyway?"
It is just frustrating, but if this is my biggest problem today, then it is a good day.

Can you provide a picture of the coupler? I haven't seen one with a recessed hole. That does sound like it would make locking it a pain.
How about a trigger lock? Not terribly secure but the pin locks are probably just as quick to cut through with bolt cutters as this would be.

We use one of those yellow "gorilla" locks that fits into the ball socket, and has a u-shaped bar that locks over the top of the coupler. About $30 or so. I think Reese sells it too.

We use one of those as well in addition to the pin lock when away from the trailer. I still like to use the pin lock while the trailer is hooked up though.
Worst case scenario some little prankster comes and lifts up your trailer latch while you are in transit but away from your rig. You don't notice and........

I found a trailer coupleer lock at my local Walmart for $5.97. It fits great on my 2016 Jay Flight 28BHBE.
