I have two daughters (14 & 10) who play travel softball. The older plays regionally and the younger plays all over the state. Needless to say, we saved a ton of money buying a TT on hotel bills alone.

Sorry for the rant.

Drones? Luxury!... In my young day we had to crawl through undergrowth with our fifty-pound cameras on our backs, climb trees in the pouring rain with lenses in our teeth, and risk life and limb to get a good viral video...:-)

(For the sarcasm-impaired, that was it.. with a nod to Monty Python's "Four Yorkshiremen" )

And, seriously, I agree with you on the disregard for privacy shown by a lot of folk.... not just drone pilots

LOL

My rant is aimed at the lack of skills needed to fly a drone. I fly RC planes for the challenge of making nice precise flights without a computer to do the flying for me.

I do understand that many find drones important parts of their work/hobby of making good videos. Wonderful tools. And, yes, I even used drones in my work. They were targets for high power laser systems (they did not survive very long ).

I like to Kayak, Walk or Ride my bike now that I've lost about 120 Lbs since Bariatric surgery in Feb.

I also like to take my small RC Helicopter along and fly it where possible.
I agree with vcbice.... Drones to me are just nice airborn Cams. Not much to flying them but with that said, the racing drones are friggin mind blowing :-) Would love to see one of those competitions.

It's relaxing to me, and I like to relax when I'm camping. That's why I like hunting so much; it offers the maximum amount of peaceful nature observation.

Does napping count as a camping hobby?
x.
I am with you Camper Bob. Love to watch nature and deer hunting is a great way to sit and relax

Crafts and adventures with the kids. But once they are in bed, astronomy is my evening excitement -- so much to see once I'm away from the city.

I use my camper for going to competitions... and the hobby is still going strong. I bring my Martin guitar, too. These two models were completed since June. T-tail is 148" span nostalgia class, conventional tail is 142" RES class. A third build has just commenced, probably done by Thanksgiving. And... not a propeller in sight! (It's not a hobby, it's a sickness.)

Live steam trains, 1:32 scale and 1:12 ride on , also shooting & reloading. A little photography, and hope to do a little more fishing. I need to retire so I have more time for hobbies!

Nice job schrederman! I grew up flying control-line models with my Dad. Started out with one of those blue & yellow PT-19 Flight Trainers with the annoying little Cox .049 engines. Eventually moved up to R/C's - one of my favorites was a Midwest "Das Little Stik" with a .23 engine. Did build a sailplane once too - I think about 72" span if I remember right. Always enjoyed the time spent building them - not so much repairing them after a somewhat ill-timed maneuver or two....

Do you every go to Moriarty, NM for the competitions?

I have had a few powered gliders over the years simply to get me to altitude without a tow. Fun stuff. I've had a few 'standard' planes that would thermal well, especially out in the desert SW.

I lived in Clovis for almost 6 years, and flew with the Albuquerque bunch many times. I would often time my business in Belen to go through Friday evening so I could fly with them on Saturday, on my way home. Sadly, Buzz Averill and Dale Nutter have passed, and Dennis Clingan and others have moved away. It was a good time with good people.

Yes, those guys were great. We lived in the East Mountains for 13yrs. Mostly flew electric stuff at the Balloon Park. Started and ran Manzano Laser Works for 10 years before we sold it to a guy in Tularosa.

Wife: Horseback riding, relaxing with a Jack and Ginger

Me: Extreme day hiking (hike must be completed within 24 hours i.e. hike from the north rim to the south rim in the Grand Canyon), relaxing with a Tangueray and Tonic

Both: Occasional cigar, visiting all 57 national parks, watching the animal wildlife (especially in Yellowstone), checking out the local bars, spending time with the dog, reading.
