Holiday Cooking

My wife and I are thinking about camping in the TT over Thanksgiving. We're both foodies and Thanksgiving is a great food holiday. This got me thinking about what to cook that I can either pack or prepare in TT. We'll be at an RV park – no boondocking this holiday season!

So, I'm curious what your biggest and best holiday (or non-holiday) meals have been while traveling in your TT, 5er or MH?

We’ve been camping on thanksgiving for the past 2 years. We fry our turkey and it turns out great! Everything else can be cooked in the RV oven

Sounds delicious! Looks like I need to make sure I have a dutch oven in board.

Take 2. And if you like biscuits get the biscuit pan it makes it easier. You won't burn the bottoms as easy

if you have a big enough bbq you could always smoke or cook a turkey on it. My Weber Jumbo Joe will handle a smaller turkey. I personally prefer fried turkey to smoke, but if you wanted a traditional turkey with stuffing, I would cook or smoke it indirect on a BBQ.

I sometimes bring my electric smoker for brisket and ribs. Everyone in the park wants to stop by when they smell the bbq smoke!

Now for the unusual way to to cook a turkey. Put a piece of rebar or other spike big enough for a turkey into the ground. Cover it and the ground with aluminum foil. Several layers. Put the turkey on the foil covered spike. Cover the turkey with a very clean metal trash can. Now place hot charcoal around the can and on top of it. Sit back for about the normal cooking time. Lift off can and check for doneness.. If done enjoy the turkey and the questions. Our group has done this several times and it works out great as it it a giant dutch oven.

Have never been on Thanksgiving. But..

Chicken -N- Dumplings or Italian sausage with peppers and onions. Turkey would be cool but I like to mix it up and not be so traditional. We've been known for Italian Christmases.
