"Holly XXXX"

That was my first thought driving up the driveway. Yes, there is an RV under the tree.

We often talk about insurance. Does insurance cover this kind of thing?

The worst thing is that this is my best friend's camp. He had a quadruple bypass last week and I promised to cut his grass all Summer.

Yes.....my 42 ft fifth wheel trailer clipped an overhanging clift on a very narrow highway 1 curve that took out the awning, window and door and damged the body. Insurance covered all but my deductible.

Ooops. Here is the pic.

There is no collision coverage since the trailer is permanently set up. The tree fell down while the trailer was standing still.

I would check your comphrensive coverage. I had damage to my vehicle hood while parked fom something falling on it and it was repaired under comprehensive less deductible.

Similar but different thing happened to my boat, in my yard at home. I took the boat home to work on it. I canceled the insurance because it wasn’t in use. My insurance company said I needed to keep liability insurance on the boat because I have an umbrella liability policy. A large tree totaled the boat during hurricane Isaias. It was not covered under my homeowner policy. This type of damage is covered under the vehicle comprehensive policy. If it were some other persons boat or vehicle I would be liable for the damage and my homeowners policy would cover it. I never thought a tree would fall on my boat. I have comprehensive insurance on my trailer, lesson learned.

My buddy had some tree falling problems.
If a tree is dead and falls, the insurance of the owner of the land the tree was on pays. but than some insurance policies have a clause if a tree dies its your responsibility to have it removed, not the insurance company.

if a tree was not dead and falls, the insurance of the victim pays.

The tree in question fell on my neighbor's property. It was his tree and there was no indication that it might ever come down.

We own adjacent properties and share a common driveway. There are no houses on the land.

In my case, I have a rider on my homeowner's insurance that covers my camp. By=ut its only for liability. The RV policy covers damage to the trailer.

Overall, there are only a few dents and holes in the trailer, plus a trashed solar system, and it looks like it may be less than the deductible. The cost of tree removal is not covered.

All in all its a crappy way to start the camping season.
