Honda EU2000i generator

For several years I had two Honda EU2000i generators to power my fifth wheel. When I purchased a new trailer it had an onboard generator. I sold one of the Hondas and kept one. Now I have a Jayco Hummingbird and would like to be able to run the AC while camping. My question is if I buy another generator to run in parallel with the one I own will it have to be another EU 2000? I see Honda now makes the EU 2200. Will that work? Or would it make more sense to just sell the one I have and replace it with a 3000 watt model?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Jim

Have you considered installing a Micro-Air soft start in your air conditioner instead of adding the second generator?

The EU2200i is compatible with some of the older EU2000i with serial number ranges of EAAJ-2017305 thru EAAJ-9999999 and EACT-1000001 thru EACT-9999999. One EU2200i and one EU2000i will provide a rated power of 3400 watts(28.3 Amps)

Have you looked at the Predator 3500 from Harbor Freight? They are basically Honda clones.

I had heard the name, but never known what they were. After doing some research I think that's the way I'll go. Thanks everyone for your help.

If the older of my 2 Honda 2000's fail, I would definitely want to try the Micro-Air soft start before pulling the trigger on a new Honda.

Another vote for the Micro Air soft start. I just installed one on my trailer a few weeks ago, now my Yamaha 2000 can start the AC even in ECO mode. Of course you will not be able to run the air and other high current devices like the microwave at the same time, but that is usually manageable.

Jim

I've got 2 15K AC units on my rig and they both have a Micro Air inline soft start on them. I can run 1 AC off 1 Honda 2200i generator and BOTH AC's when running my Honda's in parallel. I can't recommend it enough!
