Hose bib without threads

FYI, on our last RV/camping trip to Bullard’s Bar in Northern California we encountered water hose bibs without threads to connect a water hose. This left us having to hold the hose against the bib, with water spraying everywhere, to get some water in the storage tank.
After coming home I found this Camco “Water Bandit” attachment ($9 at Amazon) which along with a hose clamp would have fixed the problem. Perhaps the campground encountered water theft during the California drought but this bothered me as it was a PITA.

Always have one of those with me in my bin with water filter, pressure regulator, etc. Most of the forest service and national parks are that way these days. I believe they are worried about backflow.

Yea, I've been carrying one for decades. You don't need a hose clamp if you're just filling the tank, just slide it over the faucet, there is very little back pressure.

Many campgrounds use a bib like that especially on communal faucets where they don't want anyone to attach a hose. It's why the attachment is called a
"water bandit"..
