Hot water heater

2 years ago, I bought a 2019 Jayco camper. Love the rear living area as there are only 2 of us, but..... I have had non stop trouble with the hot water heater. I'm on my 3 rd circuit board in 2 years, and now that my warranty has expired not to crazy about paying $175 plus install fee for when it goes again. Anyone also have this issue ? It's an Atco heater. Thanks for any advice.

I am not familiar with that heater but I cannot imagine that a DIY install would be that difficult. Most boards are plug and play. Move connections from one board to the new and secure it.

The other question would be if it has been a problem from the beginning why it would not still be covered. Other than they probably want to blow you off and move on.

This may get removed by the mods, but there are lemon laws when the same repair is done enough times within a certain time frame. BMW ended up buying back a car from me for that reason.

It is likely an Atwood water heater, that is what Jayco has been using for a time. Atwood is now a part of Dometic.

Many people have been very happy with aftermarket boards made by a company called Dinosaur Electronics. Here is a link: https://www.dinosaurelectronics.com/

There have been lots of failures of the Atwood boards, some fail within days of being installed!

I've had a failure each of the last two years (camper is only 2 years old). I put the Dinosaur UIB64 board in even though still under warranty. Had been working like a charm.

Thanks, I asked my dealer if the warranty on the board would be extended. They refered me to the heater manufacturer, however they did say they would try to help me out if it goes again. Just wondered if this was a prevalent problem with this heater as thr dealer told me.

This is one of those issues where you have to decide if the fight is worth it or not. As Colby and Robbyr said lots of folks have ended their WH problems with the aftermarket Dinosaur boards. If it were me, that's the route I would take...

Gotta love them handing you off to the heater manufacturer. Could you imagine Ford selling you a new truck with a radio that didn't work and telling you to go to the manufacturer?

Atwood didn't sell you the heater, Jayco did! They should go to Atwood.

If the last Atwood (Dometic) board was replaced under warranty, it should be warranteed for two years. If your dealer is giving you grief, contact Dometic. If your board is the Zhongding brand (China), it is garbage and do not let them give you another. You can install them yourself in 30 seconds — two screws and a plug. Remember to cut your 12v power first!

I read some real successes stories in Trailer Life when owners contact them to intervene with the manufacturers.
Worth a try. [emoji41]

Amazon does have them, as well as many online RV accessories dealers.
