Sold my first trailer on Craigslist for about what I had paid for it 5 years earlier (bought used, obviously). Put new tires, some eternabond and replaced the taillights, so 5 years of ownership cost me about $500 (no insurance required, it was 12 years old when we bought it and we paid cash for it). Pretty good deal in my opinion!

Sold it privately.

Pulled all the easliy stolen stuff off. Chained it to a telephone pole by the road with a "For Sale" sign that included a brief description, the price and my phone number.

Put it out Sunday afternoon. Had the cash in my pocket and the young couple towed it away Tuesday evening.

My 1st was totaled due to a tire blow-out.. My 2nd I traded in for the 3rd. Our dealer had given us a great price on the trade in.

I would vote but it don't give check boxes for more than 1

I should have made it multiple choice but unfortunately can't change it now. If you have more then one just pick one of them.

I can now officially vote...

As of today, I have traded in my 2013 Whitehawk 28BHDS. On Tuesday, I am picking up my new 2017 Jayflight 29RKS!

I have traded in and also private sale in the past.

In my state when you have a trade in you only pay sales tax on the difference in values. So when I consider a private sale I have to not only recover the difference I would pay in sales tax by not trading in but also my time in showing the rig and dealing with tire kickers. I approach this by setting a private sale price above that number and if it sells before my new rig is built I do it and if it doesn't I trade it in.

I voted that we "gave it to a relative", but we really "sold it to a relative" at the low price that we would have received on trade-in. We've done this with our last two campers. We would rather a relative get a good deal than the dealer! Now that I think about it, hope I didn't wreck your poll - should have voted that we "sold it privately".

I have to say, for those of you that "gave it to a relative", you have good souls!

Trade-in on my 2005 Ameri-camp fifth wheel with an Onan 5.5 genset was 8K, so I sold it privately on Ebay. Got 12.5K for it.

Traded it in for the same price as it was purchased used from a private party two years prior. Dealer gave us what I asked for and also gave us 36% off the new unit at the end of the model year

Listed our 2001 Starcraft pop-up on Facebook Marketplace in March 2018. Asking price was twice what our dealer offered as a trade in, and well over what we considered "blue book" value (wanted to leave some negotiating room in the price). Trailer sold for $550 over asking price in less than 6 hours.
