How Do You...

For those of you without 87ft 5ers that come stocked with grand pianos and ballrooms, how do you wash dishes?

The 184bs doesn't have a garbage disposal, as I assume most RVs don't. I've also read around that a good portion of people keep, or try to keep any food particles out of the grey tanks. Is this to prevent clogs, smells, or just a best practice?

On our first trip, the wife did the dishes like we used to, like everybody used to when tent camping; washed outside in a tub after scraping into the trash as best she could.

Are you guys scraping and washing in the sink or outside in a tub? Or do you wash in the sink with a drain strainer?

Or are we DoorDashing, because that would really make the wife happy. ;-)

We, or should I say my wife, use a sink drain screen in the right hand sink drain. She does the dishes in a tub that fits in the right hand sink. The left hand sink is for the stacking the clean dishes to dry.

We wash dishes inside our 195RB with it's tiny sink but do a few things.

1st. We buy paper plates and some paper or plastic bowls. Mainly we wash the pot or pans we use and utensils, cups and glasses. We do scrape debris off before washing. As we always have tons of grocery store bags we use them for food waste, tie up the neck and walk them down to a dumpster ASAP.

These habits tend to reduce washing which is good as out little fresh water tank does not go far. Never had a problem with grey tank so far as lots of soap in the water that does go into the grey tank.

It's good to know we're on the right track!

I'm a big fan of paper plates, even at home. We have reusable plastic plates in the TT, but will probably only use them as support for the paper plates or if we make something a little more messy than sandwiches, burgers or dogs.

With the family, I don't ever plan to camp where we don't have at least 2/3 hookups. We can do without sewer, but water and power is a must. I'm used to tent camping so I can do without some amenities, but man, not sleeping on the ground, an air mattress or on a cot is nice!
