How do you clean tour A/C condenser coils.

I did a brief search on the forum and did not quickly find anything.

Used or new trailer 6 trips and this is what I saw when I got on the roof. Click image for larger version

How do you guys clean this without damaging the roof membrane? Do not want to use anything harsh on the roof and that will wash down the side of the RV also.

Funny you bring this up because I just did mine last weekend. I laid down a rubberbacked rug on the roof and hoisted our garage vacuum up there and sat it on the rug. Using the soft bristle attachment I wanded it up and down with the coils on the outside. Worked pretty well, too. I also used a small screwdriver to straighten some bent fins I had. After I vac'd it all off I used the garden hose and hit it from the inside of the coils out. Be careful to not get too close and bend the fins. DO NOT USE A POWER WASHER! After doing all this I did notice my A/C units were running a bit cooler and didnt have to run as long either.

Google “cleaning a RV ac”. There are great YouTube videos. Watch a few and you will be on board. No need to buy any special cleaner. Use something low sudsing.
I cleaned mine a few months ago. Also while in there, clean and enlarge the drain holes on the plastic pan, under the condenser coil.
Is that dirt on the Evap coil or bent fins?

Simple Green. Spray it on everything and under the shroud, let it stand for 5mins. Hose off..

You will need to do some removing to get under the Condensor. Just screws, many. Be careful to only move it as little as needed to access under the coil and see the drain holes on each side. The best thing is to enlarge them to prevent scum from stopping them up. You will need some old towels to stuff in the hole going to the inside and a small tarp to slip under the condenser. The plastic pan can be worked out one side for cleaning and drilling the drain holes about 3/8 inch or so. Also some plastic and tape to protect the fan motor from moisture.

Go slow and next time will be a snap. I have posted some pics on JOF and there are a good many threads on it also.
